Warning: This article contains spoilers for Gen V episodes 1-4.
Summary
Gen V
introduces a whole host of new Supes with powers that range from the extraordinary to the purely erotic, making it difficult to pinpoint the most powerful Supe in the series.
The ranking system at God U is plagued by corruption, contorted by politics and money, and dictates the Supes' powers, combat prowess, and their ability to draw in donations.
Harper, possessing powers purely of an aesthetic nature, finds themselves at the bottom of the ranking, while Golden Boy, boasting thermonuclear abilities and immense strength, holds a near-top position.
Gen V is a spinoff of Prime Video's The Boys, delving into a whole new realm of Supes with an array of powers, ranging from extraordinary to captivatingly sensual. Determining the most formidable Supe in the series is no easy task. The show, based on the beloved comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, introduces a fresh generation of characters to the captivating live-action universe.
Gen V spotlights the Supes enrolled at the notorious Godolkin University, often referred to as God U. At this intensely competitive institution, the ranking system reigns supreme, as students strive to outdo one another. Rankings are determined by a complex array of factors, including the Supes' powers, combat prowess, and their capacity to attract investment for the university. Similar to the rest of the universe portrayed in The Boys, this system is deeply flawed and corrupt, permeated by politics and monetary influence. Thus, a more definitive ranking of these Supes and their powers becomes essential.
15 Harper
14 Rufus
At the bottom of the ranking of Gen V's young Supes sits Harper, portrayed by Jessica Clement. Unlike others with extraordinary abilities, Harper's powers are purely aesthetic. In the grim world of Gen V, her "power" finds its purpose in a fetishized manner, as she possesses an additional appendage that she can employ as a form of sexual gratification. Unfortunately, lacking any genuine abilities, Harper finds herself occupying the lowest position on the list.
Ranked in the top tiers of Gen V, Rufus swiftly asserts his dominance. Hailing from Godolkin University, this powerful character is expertly portrayed by Alexander Calvert from Supernatural. Endowed with psychic capabilities, Rufus can seamlessly infiltrate the minds of others and, to a certain extent, manipulate them. Moreover, he possesses the unique ability to establish psychic connections through various objects. Despite his extraordinary potential, Rufus occupies a low position on the leaderboard due to his lack of ambition and penchant for employing cheap tricks and coercive tactics, subjecting individuals to discomfort.
13 The Incredible Steve
12 Tek Knight
In their inaugural day back at Godolkin University, The Incredible Steve confronts Golden Boy in an exhibition bout. He shows great resistance initially, enduring strikes and delivering formidable punches. However, in the end, he stands no chance against the preeminent hero of God U. Just to emphasize the point, Golden Boy violently detaches Steve's arms from their sockets to conclude the match. Remarkably, Steve handles the defeat with a resilient spirit and displays astonishing regenerative abilities by promptly reattaching his arms post-battle.
Formerly a student at God U, Tek Knight has transformed into a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, seamlessly transitioning from hosting TV shows to appearing in movies. He has become a cultural icon, admired for his exceptional sensory capabilities in deduction, sight, smell, and detection, which bestow upon him remarkable intelligence and formidable power as a Supe. Regrettably, like numerous aspiring heroes in Gen V and The Boys, Tek Knight predominantly employs his extraordinary abilities to attract attention and expand his audience. Additionally, his affluence has enabled him to acquire an advanced-tech super-suit, enabling him to assume the role of a superhero. Nevertheless, his primary concern revolves around self-preservation rather than utilizing his powers to safeguard others.
11 Maverick
Maverick is a current student at God U, following in the footsteps of his late father, Translucent. Translucent was a revered member of The Seven, The Boys' superhero team, until his unfortunate demise in season 1. Like his father, Maverick possesses incredible powers. His carbon skin enables him to become invisible at will and bestows upon him super durability. As Translucent demonstrated, these extraordinary abilities make Maverick a formidable Supe who deserves a coveted spot on Vought's premier super-team.
10 Emma Meyer
Emma, also known as Little Cricket, possesses the unique ability to shrink herself to an extraordinary small size. Despite her diminutive form, Emma displays an impressive level of strength and resilience. In fact, she has even demonstrated the remarkable power to burrow into people's heads while in her shrunken state. Moreover, in episode 4 of Gen V, it is revealed that Emma can also grow to a colossal size, further enhancing her strength. Although Emma may lack self-confidence and relies on vomiting to activate her powers, it is evident that she possesses far greater power than many characters in Gen V acknowledge.
9 Polarity
Polarity, an alumnus of God U, is the proud father of the newest top-ranked student on the school's leaderboard. Similar to his son, Polarity possesses extraordinary powers and serves as a successful Supe employed by Vought International. Comparable to Magneto from The Boys, Polarity commands magnetic manipulation abilities while simultaneously exhibiting remarkable durability and strength. With these impressive attributes, Polarity accomplishes heroic feats with ease, drawing from his wealth of experience. However, much like Tek Knight, his relentless pursuit of wealth and power clouds his judgment, preventing him from opposing Vought International and its desires.
8 Tyler Oppenheim
Tyler Oppenheim, a distinguished student at God U, possesses the extraordinary ability to effortlessly pass through solid objects. Coupled with his exceptional strength and resilience, this power grants him an incredibly formidable advantage. His impressive academic record and formidable combat skills at Godolkin University have secured him a prominent position in the rankings of Gen V characters.
7 Cate Dunlap
Cate Dunlap, from Generation V, possesses the remarkable ability of mind control, which is considered one of the most potent gifts. When Cate touches someone, her power compels them to obediently follow her commands, making her an exceptionally formidable adversary. Through her advanced training and extensive experience, Cate has honed her abilities, enabling her to effortlessly persuade others to fight on her behalf or place themselves in perilous situations, as evidenced in Generation V. However, it is important to note that this power depletes rapidly, and it only functions when Cate is in close proximity to her target. Consequently, she may hold a lower ranking, but underestimating her would be a grave mistake.
6 Andre Anderson
Andre, Polarity's son, has inherited his father's gifts. Following the tragic demise of his best friend, Luke Riordan, in Gen V episode 1, Andre emerges as the top student at God U. Although Andre possesses remarkable talent, he seeks to avoid the spotlight and evade following in his father's footsteps. However, akin to a true superhero, Andre embraces a strong sense of justice. He is determined to establish his friend's sanity and uncover the concealed secrets lurking within God U. While Andre demonstrates immense potential, his position as number one at God U is somewhat overshadowed by various factors, including his father's influential presence.
5 Marie Moreau
Marie Moreau, a freshman at Godolkin University, rises in popularity and gains favor with the public after becoming involved in Golden Boy's final moments. Possessing the ability to control blood, both her own and others', Marie wields a graphic power that, if not kept in check, can lead to numerous issues— as evidenced by her unintentional killing of her own parents. However, Marie diligently strives to gain mastery over her abilities, effectively utilizing them in various situations.
In addition to her formidable powers, Marie possesses exceptional intelligence and an unwavering determination to become a hero. She aims to demonstrate to the world and her estranged sister that her power can be used for virtuous purposes rather than just causing terror. By manipulating blood, Marie can transform it into deadly weapons capable of tearing individuals apart, ensnaring those attempting to escape, and even expanding within a person's body until it reaches a point of explosive force. While it seems that Marie has yet to discover the full extent of her powers, her impressive accomplishments have undoubtedly earned her a prominent position in the ranks.
4 Golden Boy - Luke Riordan
3 Sam Riordan
- Luke Riordan, known as the Golden Boy, was the unrivaled top student at Godolkin University until his untimely demise. Possessing thermonuclear powers, extraordinary strength, and exceptional resilience, Luke proved to be an exceptionally versatile hero who could manipulate and harness fire, soar through the skies, withstand explosions, and demonstrate remarkable combat prowess. The fact that he was offered a position among The Seven even before completing his education serves as a testament to his formidable abilities. Nevertheless, Luke's position at the pinnacle of God U's hierarchy was also influenced by other factors, such as his affable demeanor, which made him an ideal representative for both the institution and Vought.
Sam, the brother of Golden Boy, is held captive in an underground facility directly beneath God U due to his extraordinary powers. Despite the presence of numerous superheroes, Sam stands out for his exceptional strength and resilience, repeatedly managing to evade capture and demonstrate the full extent of his abilities. Notably, he even succeeded in overpowering his own brother. If Sam could only gain better control over his powers, he could become an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
2 Jordan Li
Despite being considered "controversial," Jordan Li, an exceptional student at God U, manages to secure the fifth position in the school's ranking. In the world of Gen V, the existence of a hero who can seamlessly transform between male and female is deemed too controversial and unconventional to be placed in more prominent roles. However, Jordan possesses the remarkable capability to transition at will between genders, exhibiting indestructibility and immense strength in the male form, while showcasing impeccable agility and the ability to emit powerful energy pulses in the female form.
Jordan's resilience has been tested against formidable opponents such as Golden Boy and Sam, with minimal adverse effects. With extensive practice, intelligence, and superb combat skills, Jordan surpasses expectations. While Jordan has the potential to be the top-ranked student, unfortunately, the innate biases of God U and Vought prevent their extraordinary abilities from garnering the recognition they truly deserve.
1 Soldier Boy
Soldier Boy has showcased his formidable strength in The Boys by bravely opposing the superpowered forces of Billy Butcher, Hughie Campbell, and Homelander. With an impressive ability to endure any obstacle without enduring lasting harm, Soldier Boy's arrival in Gen V is eagerly anticipated. Although he has not made his appearance thus far, the confirmation of his presence assures us of a thrilling encounter in the future. Given his track record, it is highly likely that he will emerge unscathed, even if the entire cast of Gen V joins forces against him.
