The Ultimate Guide to Mastering Childe in Genshin Impact: Unveiling the Hidden Strategies

Tartaglia's normal attack may not appear significant initially, resembling the attacks of other bow users. Apart from the distinct feature of him physically launching an arrow in the final hit, there is nothing remarkable about it. However, the true importance lies in his charged attack, where a fully charged shot inflicts Riptide upon Genshin Impact enemies.

Riptide unleashes AOE Hydro damage upon enemies, which is considered as ordinary attack damage. There are two ways to trigger this AOE effect: by utilizing another charged shot or by eliminating the target with Riptide. The connection between his normal and charged attack may lead one to believe that his plunging attack possesses an enticing ability, but this is not the case. Players need to exercise caution as Tartaglia is unable to execute plunging attacks when his elemental skill is activated.

Childe's elemental skill in Genshin Impact often confuses and frustrates players. However, when used correctly, it can be highly effective. By activating his skill, Childe transitions from ranged attacks to melee attacks. His normal attacks now deal Hydro damage instead of physical, while his charged attacks become a powerful Hydro slash rather than applying Riptide. It is important for players to understand the timing and usage of this stance switch in order to fully utilize Childe's capabilities as a Fatui Harbinger. It is advisable to not remain in the melee stance for an extended period of time, as the cooldown time is directly determined by the duration of the stance, up to 30 seconds. If players surpass the 30-second mark (which is unlikely in most Genshin Impact team compositions), the cooldown increases to 45 seconds.

Childe's ultimate ability, Havoc: Obliteration, varies depending on his current stance. While in bow stance, his burst applies Riptide, whereas the melee stance offers a higher damage multiplier at the cost of not applying Riptide. In Genshin Impact, many players utilize Childe as a burst DPS, often relying on his melee stance. He is particularly effective in vaporize compositions, often paired with Pyro characters like Xiangling. In order to maximize his Riptide ability, some players also opt to include Sucrose or Kazuha in their team compositions.

Childe's passive talents are also centered around his Riptide ability. Upon reaching his first ascension, Tartaglia's passive extends the duration of Riptide by 8 seconds. This grants players more time to prepare their team rotation before using Childe's abilities again. His second ascension passive applies Riptide to enemies after Childe lands a critical hit in his melee stance. Finally, his final passive talent in Genshin Impact enhances the team's normal attack levels by 1, similar to a constellation. This allows Childe to provide additional support to his teammates, going beyond his role as a powerful DPS character.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
