When aiming down the sights, the Hyperion weapons in Borderlands 3 are equipped with a front-facing shield. This shield serves a dual purpose of shielding against damage and also possesses distinct variations that can reflect damage, absorb damage to generate ammo, or enhance the power of the next shot.
- The Nidhogg rocket launcher divides into six projectiles, inflicting six times greater damage per rocket when players are within the weapon's ideal range.
- Unlike other Hyperion weapons in the original Borderlands, the Nemesis repeater pistol has the ability to cause both Shock and Corrosive damage in a single burst fire, giving it a distinct advantage.
Borderlands 2 marked the emergence of Hyperion corporation as a prominent weapons manufacturer. In this installment, the distinguishing characteristic of Hyperion weapons was their increasing accuracy with continuous firing.
With the release of Borderlands 3, Hyperion's signature trait underwent further modifications while retaining its original feature from Borderlands 2. Now, in addition to improved accuracy, Hyperion weapons in Borderlands 3 deploy a protective shield in front of the user when aiming down the sights. These shields not only shield against incoming damage, but specific weapons also possess unique shield variations. Some of these Hyperion weapon shields in Borderlands 3 have the capability to reflect damage back to the attacker, absorb damage to replenish ammunition, or absorb damage to enhance the power of the player's next shot.
Hyperion’s Strongest Weapons Throughout the Borderlands Franchise
Nidhogg
What sets this Legendary rocket launcher apart in the original Borderlands is its unique ability to split rockets into six projectiles after reaching a certain distance. This becomes incredibly destructive as each split projectile inflicts the same amount of damage as the rocket's base damage. Consequently, being within the optimum range of this weapon results in a staggering six times increase in damage per rocket.
Nemesis
Invader
The only Hyperion-made pearlescent weapon in the original Borderlands is the repeater pistol known as Nemesis. What sets Nemesis apart is its unique ability to deliver both Shock and Corrosive damage with each burst fire, a functionality that only a handful of firearms in the original Borderlands possess the natural capability to activate multiple Elemental Effects.
Most of Hyperion’s armaments are designed to be fully automatic, but the Invader sets itself apart by offering burst-fire capabilities. As a sniper rifle that leverages Hyperion's characteristic precision during its 5-round burst, the Invader excels at delivering critical hits to resilient adversaries, such as the majority of raid bosses found in the Borderlands franchise.
The Butcher
The Butcher has made appearances in several of the primary Borderlands games so far and it's not hard to see why. This firearm is a high-speed, fully automatic shotgun that has the occasional ability to replenish portions of its magazine while being fired. When wielded by the Vault Hunters in the Borderlands series who have the ability to passively regenerate their own ammunition, this weapon excels.
Conference Call
Longbow
This iconic shotgun from Borderlands 2 not only appears in various other Borderlands franchise games but also holds a vital role in the first Tales From the Borderlands game. Its exceptional attribute lies in its ability to release an extra spread of bullets at a right angle to each regular shot, resulting in substantial damage inflicted upon the target.
Excalibastard
Borderland 2’s hidden tribute to Minecraft is widely loved by fans of the Borderlands franchise for its inclusion of the Longbow, a powerful sniper rifle that fires Minecraft arrows as projectiles. Notably, this exceptional weapon also inflicts Fire elemental damage, further enhancing its destructive potential. In addition to its unique functionality, the Longbow is highly sought after due to the valuable rewards it offers to those fortunate enough to find it.
While considered the franchise's underdog, even among the Borderlands spin-off games, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel introduced several enjoyable features to the series. One standout element deserving of a comeback is the laser weapon type. Among these laser weapons is the Excalibastard, a legendary gun that excels at freezing enemies with Cryo damage before obliterating them with its attached melee blade.
Face-Puncher
The Face-Puncher is an exceptional shotgun that inflicts melee damage upon firing. Moreover, it is equipped with the Hyperion weapon shield, which not only absorbs bullets but also redirects them towards the player. The remarkable ability of this weapon to perform melee damage from a distance proves to be remarkably robust, as it even enables the activation of skills and abilities that typically rely on a standard melee attack.
Heart Breaker
The Heart Breaker shotgun, obtained from Mad Moxxi in various Borderlands games, is a noteworthy weapon among players. It boasts considerable damage potential and stands out for its unique ability to passively heal players for a percentage of the damage it inflicts. This healing feature proves highly beneficial for players seeking to enhance their survival in the challenging endgame content of Borderlands.
Borderlands 2 takes players back to the Borderlands, introducing fresh locations and characters, along with new classes to master. Widely regarded as one of the franchise's finest releases, this looter shooter is packed with heaps of humor and thrilling action.

Editor's P/S
As a long-time fan of the Borderlands series, I am excited to see the return of Hyperion weapons in Borderlands 3. Hyperion weapons have always been some of my favorites due to their unique designs and powerful effects. In particular, I am looking forward to trying out the Nidhogg rocket launcher, which can split into six projectiles, and the Nemesis repeater pistol, which can deal both shock and corrosive damage. I think these weapons will be a lot of fun to use and will help me take down even the toughest enemies in Borderlands 3.
Overall, I think the Hyperion weapons in Borderlands 3 are a great addition to the game. They offer a unique playstyle that is different from the other weapon manufacturers, and they are very powerful. I am excited to see what other Hyperion weapons are added to the game in future DLCs.
