The latest update for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is now available, bringing with it a substantial set of patch notes. This update arrives less than a month after the previous patch for the game.
Created by Sumo Nottingham and published by Gun Interactive, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a game adaptation of the 1974 film of the same name. It is the first game in the franchise since the 1982 title with the same name. Highly anticipated as one of the leading horror games of 2023, it was released well before the Halloween season. The game has received positive feedback for its unique asymmetrical multiplayer experience and its faithfulness to the original material. However, no game is without its flaws. Thankfully, the developers have remained transparent with the fans, taking their feedback into account and diligently working on patches to address any issues that may arise.
The full patch notes for the September 16 update have been shared by the official Gun Interactive Reddit account. Each modification is classified as a Fix, a Change, or a Tune. In terms of Fixes, several adjustments have been made to the playable character Hitchhiker. One fix addresses a glitch that allowed him to phase through walls by setting traps, while another fix enables ensnared Victims to crawl through small spaces or traverse gaps. Moreover, Johnny and Sissy's lunges have been nerfed to align better with the other family members. Furthermore, a cheat that permitted PC players to manipulate their brightness, even during times when it is prohibited, has been resolved by rectifying the game files.
Various changes were made to gameplay, including reductions in perk levels, adjustments to stealth in mini-games, and stun immunity for characters. Players controlling The Family can now shut off the fusebox after it has been turned on by a Victim. Additionally, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre character Leland's Life Saver ability has had its stun duration upgraded.
These gameplay changes, though seemingly small, could significantly impact The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's multiplayer meta. It will be interesting to see how this new patch affects gameplay and if these changes introduce new problems that will require another patch to resolve. Notably, Gun Interactive mentioned that they will no longer release weekly patches, suggesting they are observing and anticipating potential issues.
September 26 Update Patch Notes
Fixed: Hitchhiker Trap ExploitFixed an exploit where Hitchhiker players could use his trap to pass through walls and doors.
Fixed: We have addressed the issue where Victims were unable to interact with gaps, crawl spaces, and other elements after getting caught in a Hitchhiker Trap.
Fixed: Adjusted Johnny and Sissy's lunge, as it was longer compared to other Family members.
We’ve adjusted this to be more in line with the rest of the Family members.
This should also correct the Johnny build we’re seeing used in public matches.
Adjusted the location on the ladder where the Hitchhiker can set traps.
This still allows for strategic play, but will give Victims an opportunity to counter the trap.
Changed: Fusebox ResetThe Family can now turn the fusebox off after a Victim turns it on.
There is a cooldown applied to the switch, similar to generators and car batteries.
Changed: Family Stun ImmunityFamily now has a 10 second stun immunity period after an initial stun ends.
There is no immunity to stunning once a Family member has been stunned by a Victim emerging from a hidden location.
If you try to stun a Family member with immunity, you will not receive the prompt for Leland's ability or the opportunity for a backstab.
Stunning a Family member with a door slam will have no effect if they have immunity. The duration of Close Encounters varies because each Family member has a different stun recovery time, resulting in a different immunity period for each of them.
