The Surprising Revelation Behind Lauren Bushnell Lane's Decision to Alter Son Baker's Middle Name

Lauren Bushnell Lane and Chris Lane have legally changed their son Baker's name.
"I just submitted the name change form for Baker at the Vital Records Office. It feels like a Kylie Jenner moment, you know, changing my son's name," the 33-year-old Bachelor alum said on an Instagram Story video on Friday, October 6. She humorously compared her situation to Jenner, 26, who changed her second child's name from Wolf to Aire after his first birthday.
Bushnell Lane mentioned that her second son's first name is still Baker, but they decided to switch his middle name. In a video shared on social media, she explained that they had a hard time choosing between West and Weston in the hospital. Eventually, they settled on Weston. However, since Baker fits his personality better and they refer to him as Baker West, they decided to nickname him Baker West instead of Weston.
She concluded by saying that changing your kid's name is a simple process if they are under 1 year old. All it takes is a payment of $15. Therefore, the new name for her child is Baker West.
Bushnell Lane began dating the 38-year-old country singer in 2018. They got married in 2019, almost two years prior to publicly announcing her pregnancy with their first child. Their son, Dutton, was born in June 2021, followed by the arrival of Baker in October 2022.

“I had a running list of baby names on my phone, like many women. Baker was one of them. Interestingly, the only person named Baker that I am familiar with is [football player] Baker Mayfield," Bushnell Lane revealed exclusively to Us Weekly in February when discussing the name choice for their second child.
Although Lane is a devoted Carolina Panthers fan, they confirmed that their son was not named after the NFL quarterback.
"I've been saying, 'No, we had already chosen the name Baker long before he even went to Carolina last year.' I've heard that comment so many times," Lane joked, responding to Us. Bushnell Lane joined in, mentioning that fans were eagerly anticipating their choice of a name inspired by a character from Yellowstone.
During the interview with Us, the happily married couple expressed their delight in witnessing the strong bond between their two sons.
