The removal of the NickMercs Bundle from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has led Twitch streamer Nickmercs to suggest that he might not participate in the game. This decision is believed to be a consequence of his contentious remarks regarding the LGBTQIA+ community.
Even though Nickmercs has a strong bond with the game and its community, he expressed his acceptance of Call of Duty severing their association with him due to his viewpoints, stating that they could respectfully disagree.
A number of streamers in the community rallied behind Nickmercs and displayed their dissatisfaction with the way the situation was handled. They emphasized his substantial role in the game's rise in popularity and showed their solidarity with messages like "W for Nick."
Renowned Twitch streamer Nickmercs recently hinted that he might avoid playing the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This decision potentially stems from Call of Duty removing the NickMercs Bundle from both the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone stores a few months ago.
In June, Nickmercs commented on a video depicting a clash between anti-LGBT protestors and pro-LGBT demonstrators at a school board meeting discussing Pride Month recognition. His comment suggesting that pro-LGBT advocates should 'leave little children alone' sparked online controversy. In response, Call of Duty took down the NickMercs Bundle from the game. NickMercs clarified that his intention was not to target the LGBTQIA+ community, but rather to voice his concern about his children's education. He preferred to discuss such matters personally with his child, rather than having schools celebrate Pride month. NickMercs made it clear that he neither intended to apologize for his tweet nor delete it, but wanted to emphasize that he never intended to offend anyone.
After Call of Duty severed ties with Nickmercs, several members of the streaming community, including popular YouTuber DrDisrespect, showed their support for him by uninstalling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 during live streams. During one of his recent streams, Nickmercs addressed the situation and stated that he was alright with Call of Duty's decision. He expressed that if the game didn't want to associate with him due to his beliefs, he didn't mind, and they could simply agree to disagree. When asked if he planned to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, despite his deep connection to the game and community, Nickmercs mentioned that he might not.
Additionally, Nickmercs, who is also a co-owner of FaZe Clan, expressed disappointment in the handling of the situation and how he was portrayed as a villain for voicing concerns about the influence of certain views on young children. He found it all quite strange. In response to a clip on platform X, many users expressed their support for Nickmercs. One user highlighted Nickmercs' significant contribution to the game's popularity, noting the high viewership he and Tim achieved on Twitch during the peak of Warzone on Modern Warfare 2019. Another user simply expressed their support with a message that said, "W for Nick."
Nickmercs' decision on whether or not to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remains unknown at this time, however, it is important to note that the game's release date is fast approaching. A wealth of information regarding the game can now be found, including details about its campaign, core multiplayer mode, and the thrilling Zombies mode. Fans were recently treated to the official multiplayer trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which provided a comprehensive overview of the game's maps, gameplay, and essential mechanics.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be available on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
