World of Warcraft fans can look forward to the upcoming Fractures in Time update, which will focus on the Bronze Dragonflight and their battle against fate itself. While players are currently enjoying the Embers of Neltharion patch, they have already had a taste of what's to come with the Temporal Conflux in Thaldraszus. This questing hub is home to some intriguing lore interactions, where players aid Chromie, a beloved bronze dragon, in her struggle against Eternus. But as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that there is more to this conflict than meets the eye.
World of Warcraft's Infinite Dragonflight Is More Familiar Than Players Might Suspect
Eternus, a member of the Infinite Dragonflight, has black and pale blue scales that distinguish him from the yellow-scaled bronze dragons players are familiar with. Unlike the bronze dragons, the Infinite dragons abandoned their duty to protect Azeroth and instead seek to create chaos. Their ultimate goal in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is to bring about a timeline in which Nozdormu, the Bronze Aspect, becomes Murozond, the Infinite Aspect. Nozdormu has long believed that his descent into madness is inevitable, while Chromie remains determined to find a way to save him. Despite Chromie's unwavering belief in the power of the timeways to solve any problem, her own experiences in World of Warcraft suggest otherwise.
Players at the Temporal Conflux assisted Chromie in defeating Eternus by chasing them through a variety of timelines, spanning from the distant past to the far future. Along the way, they revisited significant events, including the reign of the Old Gods during the Black Empire. Eventually, both Chromie and Eternus had to work together to repair the chaos they created, engaging in playful banter that seemed more like that of siblings rather than mortal enemies.
There is a compelling theory that suggests Eternus is simply another version of Chromie, much like how Murozond is the Infinite alternate form of Nozdormu. It appears that both dragons possess knowledge beyond what they reveal, and neither seemed inclined to kill the other. As the questline draws to a close, Nozdormu grants Eternus clemency and allows her to depart in peace, recognizing her cooperation. The upcoming Fractures in Time update for World of Warcraft will likely unveil the true intentions of the Infinite Dragonflight and the nature of Eternus.
It is uncertain why the Infinite dragons are so determined to transform Nozdormu into Murozond, despite attempting to alter various events in World of Warcraft's history that resulted in significant casualties. However, unlike characters such as Deathwing, Eternus and her cohorts do not appear to be driven by madness. As such, it is possible that players may find themselves supporting her objectives in the future, as both the bronze and Infinite dragons may share a common goal of safeguarding Azeroth, albeit with differing approaches. With Chromie being a beloved character in World of Warcraft, Fractures in Time poses many intriguing enigmas to unravel.
