Glen Powell revealed that he had a close call while filming a nude scene with his "Anyone But You" costar Sydney Sweeney. “Taking your clothes off on the side of a cliff in a hurry is not safe, either,” Powell, 35, told Variety about the intense scene. He recounted the moment where he had to strip naked while Sweeney, 26, pulled a spider out of his shorts at the film’s premiere in New York City on Monday, December 11. “Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast. But it’s a really fun scene, so it was all worth it.”
In the on-screen moment, Powell hastily removes his clothes before Sweeney catches a glimpse of him bending over. The actor confessed that he knew he wouldn't look "cool" in the comedic scene, so he decided to "embrace" the absurdity, saying, "You just have to grip it and rip it in a scene like that."
The scene was also challenging for Sweeney, who joked about her own struggles while filming.
The Euphoria actress recounted the incident when the spider bit her, saying "I'm very acquainted with Glen now." In the upcoming film, "Anyone But You," set to release on December 22, Powell and Sweeney play ex-couple Ben and Bea who pretend to be in a happy relationship for a destination wedding in Australia. Despite their on-screen chemistry getting steamy, there have been rumors about their off-screen relationship; Powell recently split from girlfriend Gigi Paris in April, while Sweeney has kept quiet about her engagement to Jonathan Davino in February 2022.

Powell and Sweeney denied the speculation during a recent appearance on Today when host Hoda Kotb asked if there was “a little romance” between them.
"We don't have romantic feelings for each other, but we do love each other," Powell stated on the December 11 episode. "Honestly, she's one of the most amazing people I've ever met. She's truly incredible."
Sweeney also confirmed that their relationship was purely platonic in an interview with Variety.
"It's a romantic comedy, that's what the audience craves," she stated. "Glen and I are indifferent. We have a great time together and we deeply respect each other; he's dedicated and so am I."
Powell, however, recognizes their on-screen charm.

"The key to a great rom-com is great chemistry, and according to the Top Gun: Maverick star, Sydney is the perfect person to have that chemistry with," he told Entertainment Tonight on December 7th. "It felt like we'd known each other forever from the start, and I never get tired of talking to Sydney, which I think anyone on set can attest to."
Powell hinted that it was effortless for him to "pretend" to fall in love with Sweeney.
