Burrows' concerns regarding the striking similarities between Joey and Chandler were valid. The success of Friends can be attributed, in part, to the stark contrasts among the main characters. Each individual possessed their own distinct quirk and peculiarities, making the show relatable to a wider audience, as many viewers could identify with at least one or two of them.
