A newly released behind-the-scenes video for Rick and Morty unveils the genesis of the latest episode, "The Jerrick Trap." Within it, Jerry and Rick undergo a body switch, leading to their demise and subsequent reconfiguration of their minds by Rick's medical robot. As a result, a new version of Rick and Jerry form a strong bond, embarking on a mission to confront a gang of extraterrestrial criminals.

Now, Adult Swim has released a behind-the-scenes video from Rick and Morty season 7 explaining how the episode came to be.

In the video, Dan Harmon, the creator of the series, explains the concept behind the unique body swapping in the episode. Writer James Siciliano also discusses the design of the characters' combined body, referred to as "Jerricky." Take a look at what Harmon and Siciliano had to share below:

Harmon: Rather than simply doing a traditional body swap, we wanted to try something different. We toyed with the idea of a shuffle instead of a swap, which seemed very intriguing. It's one thing for you and me to switch bodies, but it's a whole other experience to become this peculiar mixture of mashed potatoes and still maintain our individual identities. Wouldn't that make us best friends?

Siciliano: The design team did an incredible job with Jerricky. The design went through various stages, but ultimately ended up as this strange combination of monster, caterpillar, and Frankenstein's totem pole.
