A quick summary of I'm in Love with the Villainess Episode 3
Prince Rod (Image via Platinum Vision)The previous episode began with Rae and Rod participating in a chess match. Initially, Rae successfully put Rod in check, but he quickly turned the situation around and checkmated her. Before leaving, Rod expressed his desire to play another game, suspecting that Rae hadn't given her best during their match.
Following that, Rae and Claire were deeply engaged in a game of chess when Yu suddenly appeared. He offered to assist Claire and suggested switching to poker. The poker game involved Rae, Claire, Yu, and Misha, with Yu's assistant acting as the dealer. Ultimately, Yu emerged as the victor, but it became apparent that he had manipulated the game in his favor from the very beginning.
The game was held to assess Prince Thane's suitability as king. Participants drew lots to determine who would be the king, with the authority to give commands to the others. Lene emerged as the winner and instructed Thane to pat Claire on the head. Then, when Rae won her turn, she mischievously requested Thane and Claire to share a kiss.
Upon realizing Rae's underlying motive, Thane promptly departed from the scene. It was later uncovered that Lene and Rae had collaborated to orchestrate this game, hoping to bring Claire and Thane together due to Claire's affection for him.

Lene chimed in, stating that gender should not be a determining factor in love. However, Rae interjected, making it clear that it did matter to her, as she was not attracted to men.
The perplexing question that baffled everyone was why Rae, deeply smitten with Claire, would orchestrate a game to foster a connection between Claire and Thane. Rae, in clarifying her intentions, expressed that she wasn't seeking reciprocation from Claire, but chose to provide support instead.
Subsequently, it came to light that Rae had never experienced mutual romantic affections in her own life. Hence, she elected not to divulge her feelings and instead relied on humor and laughter as coping mechanisms.
While Rae was lost in her thoughts, a couple of girls started gossiping about her relentless pursuit of Claire. When Claire retaliated by pouring water on them, Misha perceived it as her defending Rae. Nevertheless, Lene clarified that Claire's actions were only a result of her own guilt regarding her wrongdoing, which she projected onto the girls.
