Comic book artist David Finch recently mentioned in an interview with Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, that Steven Yeun has been cast as Sentry in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Thunderbolts. Kirkman revealed this information during a live-streamed conversation on Thursday, stating that his close friend Yeun will be portraying the character in the movie. The character Sentry, also known as Robert Reynolds, first appeared in comic books in 2000 and has been featured in various Marvel series such as New Avengers and the Dark Avengers. The storyline of the character revolves around Reynolds rediscovering his superhero identity and the imminent return of his nemesis, the Void. Although rumors of Yeun's involvement in the film emerged in February, it was only recently confirmed by Kirkman's statements.
In regards to Yeun's involvement, Kirkman has revealed that he received a call from him and he even went in for a costume fitting. Kirkman assures that what he's about to share is not a spoiler or anything that would cause any trouble. The costume, which takes inspiration from the classic colors of the Sentry, is expected to showcase a combination of yellow and blue, reminiscent of Yeun's previous superhero role as Invincible.
Yeun's debut in the MCU is set for Thunderbolts, which is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025. Director Jake Schreier has hinted earlier this year that the movie will bring "something different" for the audiences, setting it apart from previous MCU entries. The cast also includes Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, and Harrison Ford, among other talented actors.
On Monday, Marvel Studios announced a number of delays for its upcoming movie slate.

As an enthusiastic fan, I am thrilled to hear that Steven Yeun has been cast as Sentry in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Thunderbolts. Yeun is an incredibly talented actor, and I believe he will bring a unique and exciting energy to the role. I am particularly interested to see how he portrays Sentry's complex and conflicted personality. Sentry is a powerful superhero with a dark past, and I think Yeun will be able to capture the character's inner turmoil perfectly.
I am also excited to see how Sentry fits into the larger MCU. The Thunderbolts are a team of anti-heroes and villains, and it will be interesting to see how Sentry interacts with them. I could also see Sentry playing a major role in the upcoming Secret Wars event, which is rumored to be the next big crossover film in the MCU.
