The summer can officially begin now that Love Island USA is set to return for its fifth season in paradise.
"Taking place in the stunning backdrop of Fiji, the fifth season of Peacock Original Love Island USA introduces an enticing cast of attractive individuals embarking on a journey to find love within a luxurious villa," reads a synopsis for the upcoming episodes. "During their time in this tropical paradise, the Islanders will form connections as they face exhilarating challenges and unexpected surprises that surpass anything seen before."
The statement also hints at the arrival of captivating new contestants, referred to as "bombshells," who are bound to create temptation and shake up the existing couples. (In the season premiere, five pairs will initiate their search for 'The One' by forming romantic pairings.)
The second season of Love Island USA is set to return to Peacock on Tuesday, July 18. Following the show's previous seasons on CBS and Paramount+, fans can expect daily episodes that provide a glimpse into life inside the villa. Currently, the American version of the tropical dating show features three couples who are still together: Kyra Lizama and Will Moncada, Shannon St. Clair and Josh Goldstein from season 3 in 2021, and Sydney Paight and Isaiah Campbell from season 4 in 2022.
Former Love Island USA host Arielle Vandenberg spoke exclusively to We in June 2021 about the show's premise, expressing her belief that falling in love on the island is inevitable. Vandenberg shared a personal experience with her fiancé, Matt Cutshall, where they watched the sunset together and couldn't help but feel it was the most romantic thing they had ever done. With her own romantic experience in mind, Vandenberg anticipates that the islanders will undoubtedly develop strong emotions during their time on the show. After hosting the first three seasons, Vandenberg passed the torch to Modern Family alum Sarah Hyland, who took over hosting duties for season 4 in 2022 and will continue in season 5.
"It's absolutely amazing," exclaimed Hyland, 32, during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July 2022. She continued, "The good ole Peacock reached out to me and asked me to host, and of course, I couldn't refuse. I'm a huge fan of reality dating shows, and let me tell you, we have 10 incredibly attractive individuals on this show. I couldn't take my eyes off them."
The star of The Wedding Year, who tied the knot with Bachelorette alum Wells Adams in August 2022, went on to say, "They're all stunning and wonderful people, and they participate in seductive and daring challenges while searching for love. The show is filmed in real-time from Tuesdays to Sundays."
