The Epic Partnership of Din Djarin's Actors: A Journey from Kingsman to The Mandalorian

Learn about the incredible partnership between Pedro Pascal, Brendan Wayne, and Lateef Crowder, and how their collaboration has shaped the iconic character of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian.

The Beginnings of an Epic Partnership

The best partnership in The Mandalorian actually began seven years ago, long before the Star Wars TV show first began. Lead actor Pedro Pascal has always been vocal about the true partnership behind Din Djarin's Mandalorian armor, with actor Brendan Wayne and stuntman Lateef Crowder both often stepping into the beskar to bring Mando to life. The three of them have been a team from the very beginning of The Mandalorian, modeling their performances off one another to make Din's various appearances as seamless as possible.

What's surprising, however, is that Pascal and Crowder's partnership began long before The Mandalorian. One 2016 stunt video shared by annalia shows Pascal and Crowder training together for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel movie created two years before The Mandalorian season 1 went into production. Pascal portrays Jack 'Whiskey' Daniels in the movie, and Crowder serves as a stuntman during Pascal's final fight scene. The two already make a dynamic pair in this video, foreshadowing the epic partnership they would go on to create together two years later and beyond for The Mandalorian.

The Perfect Team: Pascal and Crowder

Pascal and Crowder have since gone on to reflect on this time spent working together on Kingsman: The Golden Circle ahead of their partnership in The Mandalorian, with Pascal notably sharing his excitement about Crowder's involvement in the Star Wars project by saying he knew it would help Mando to be absolutely 'badass.' Their dynamic translates perfectly onto the screen, with Pascal's voice providing Din's now-iconic gruffness and Crowder's stunt abilities defining his gritty fighting style. The two complement each other very well, and there's no doubt their past partnership has played a major factor in it all.

Hopefully, the two will continue to work together on The Mandalorian for many more years, especially with both The Mandalorian season 4 and Dave Filoni's The Mandalorian culmination movie event on the horizon. Wayne has added a wonderful third addition to their dynamic, with all three of them making Din one of Star Wars' most beloved and recognizable characters yet. As the Mandalorians say, 'loyalty and solidarity are the Way,' and Pascal and Crowder have demonstrated that in both The Mandalorian and more.
