The upcoming second official Horizon board game, Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion, introduces a fresh narrative that sets the stage for the events of the video game. Unlike its predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn, which lacked a storytelling aspect and was semi-cooperative, Seeds of Rebellion is a fully cooperative game that delves into the narrative of the Forbidden West prior to Aloy's arrival. Taking on the roles of Tenakth tribe marshals, players will embark on an adventure to uncover and address a brewing rebellion within their ranks. With a maximum of 4 players, you will navigate the world, engage in quests, gather equipment, and confront the iconic massive machines that define the franchise.
Steamforged Games collaborated with Guerrilla's narrative team to develop the storyline for the board game. Seeds of Rebellions builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, allowing players to utilize miniatures from the previous game. The game introduces a new stealth system, expanded abilities for the marshals, and new enemy machines to contend with. Alongside these features, new miniatures have been introduced, with the tremortusk being the only one revealed so far.
Horizon offers more than just a single cross-media element. In 2022, a Horizon TV show was announced, and since 2020, regular comics have been released. Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion will be launched on Kickstarter on November 21, 2023.
