Bringing a proper expansion to the world of John Wick, new footage of The Continental takes viewers back to the 1970s in an alternate history. This Peacock show serves as a prequel to the action franchise led by Keanu Reeves, delving into the origins of the assassins' hotel and showcasing the journey of Ian McShane's Winston as he becomes the owner of the New York branch. Leading The Continental's cast is Colin Woodell as a young Winston, joined by Mel Gibson, Katie McGrath, Ayomide Adegun, Hubert Point-Du Jour, and Peter Greene.

With just a few months left until its premiere, Lionsgate and Peacock brought The Continental: From the World of John Wick to San Diego Comic-Con for a special panel where Screen Rant was in attendance. It was officially announced that the three-part prequel event will begin streaming on September 22. "Night 2" will be aired on September 29, followed by "Night 3" on October 6. Along with the release date, an exclusive first-look at The Continental was unveiled, including behind-the-scenes highlights of its production. Check out our description of the footage shown below:

A group of people is seen in a vault with a red light on. It appears that Ben Robson's character, Frankie, has been caught in the scene. He manages to escape by shooting a fire extinguisher. This leads to a intense fight scene in a stairwell, featuring classic Wick gun-fu and a long take. Frankie uses people as body shields, shoots someone in the head, causing them to fall down the stairwell in a tracking shot. When he runs out of bullets, Frankie switches to a knife and reloads. The scene ends with him jumping out of a window, falling four floors into a dumpster.

Mel Gibson's character is shown talking to Winston about what Frankie has taken. Winston explains that he is the bait, and mentions that Frankie doesn't care about him. Cormac, a threat to Winston, confronts him, but Winston stands his ground. Charon, who works for Cormac, shows Winston the elevator. Cormac then sends his goons after Winston, but Winston and Charon form a bond as they walk together.

Winston is seen having a meeting with a woman when two goons named Hansel and Gretel enter the room. This leads to a 2-on-2 action sequence, featuring methodical martial arts. Winston manages to escape and comes across KD. As he leaves in slow motion, she calls out to him and points a gun at him. A shootout begins with one of the goons, who is shot in the head (blurred out). The long-haired goon knocks down Winston, shoots the receptionist, and nearly kills KD. The police arrive, and Winston is taken away in a van. They mention that Hansel's hairstyle is inspired by Ringo Starr and resembles Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

Charon gets off a bus, and Winston tells him in a voiceover that they are more alike than he realizes. Winston is shown on the bus, and the voiceover continues, revealing that Winston is recruiting Charon. Charon opens an envelope he was given and is shocked by its contents. He then returns to The Continental.
