Montana Fishburne, 32, and her father Laurence Fishburne, 62, have had a rocky relationship for many years.
When Montana turned 18, she decided to enter the adult entertainment industry. Although Laurence has not publicly criticized his daughter's career path, Montana has mentioned that her father was not exactly supportive of her choice.
She told TMZ in 2010 that she heard he's mad at her, but they haven't spoken yet. She feels confident that they can work things out, believing he wants to support her in everything she does. Although he currently sees it negatively, she thinks he will eventually see it as a positive.
In 2010, Montana clarified that she didn't aspire to pursue a career as a mainstream actress like her father. Instead, she had always dreamed of becoming an adult film star.
"I had a little passion inside me to do porn," she told We. "I didn’t really want to tell too many people about it because I was afraid of their reactions when I was younger. I started thinking about it … when I was 16."
Montana shared that she didn’t have any intention to “hurt” her parents or “bring shame” to their family name. In addition to Montana, Laurence shares son Langston, 36, with ex-wife Hajna O. Moss and daughter Delilah, 16, whom he welcomed with Suits alum Gina Torres.
Montana faced challenges in her career while also experiencing legal troubles. In 2017, she was arrested for driving under the influence and charged with three misdemeanors. Montana was able to secure her release by posting a $2,500 bond the following day.
In the subsequent year, Montana appeared to make amends with Laurence by publicly acknowledging him on her social media platform.
In February 2018, she shared on Instagram a throwback photo of her and her father, expressing gratitude for the greatest gift he ever gave her - his belief in her.
Two years later, Montana faced legal issues once again. She was arrested in 2020 for driving under the influence in Florida but was later released on bond. In January 2022, police records obtained by We showed that Montana was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. She had called the authorities, claiming that an ex-boyfriend was stalking and threatening her.
When the police arrived, Montana was by herself and reportedly shouted at them that nobody had come to her aid. She ended up slapping one of the deputies, leaving the officer's ear swollen and red, as stated in the police report. Initially, she pleaded not guilty but later changed it to no contest.
In April, it was confirmed by Us magazine that Montana was given a 24-month probation sentence, two years after the incident. As part of the probation, she will also need to complete a 13-week anger management program.
Montana's attorney, Michael Grieco, reassured that there is no admission of guilt or conviction in the case. He mentioned that the case will be sealed and put in the rearview. He also added that young Ms. Fishburne will be able to move on with her life.
