Laurence Fishburne, known for his role as Orpheus in The Matrix and an Academy Award nomination for What's Love Got to do With It, is set to join the cast of The Witcher for its upcoming fourth season, playing the character Regis. This character was introduced in the book Baptism of Fire and is described as a "world-wide barber-surgeon with a mysterious past." He will join Geralt, played by Liam Hemsworth, following Henry Cavill's departure from the role.
"I'm very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher," Fishburne said in a statement.
In addition to Hemsworth and Fishburne, Season 4 brings back Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan as Yennefer and Ciri, respectively.
Here is the story overview for The Witcher Season 4:
Following the dramatic events that conclude season three, the new season of The Witcher will see Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri navigating the war-torn Continent separately. Their survival and reunion hinge on their ability to find leadership within the disparate groups they encounter as they face the many challenges ahead. While the release date for The Witcher Season 4 has not been revealed, production is said to be starting early this year.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan of The Witcher, I am thrilled to hear that Laurence Fishburne is joining the cast for Season 4. Fishburne is an incredibly talented actor, and I have no doubt that he will bring the character of Regis to life in a truly unforgettable way. I am also excited to see how the story will unfold in Season 4, as Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri navigate the war-torn Continent separately. I am confident that Season 4 will be even better than the previous seasons, and I can't wait to see it when it is released.
However, I am also a bit sad to see Henry Cavill leave the role of Geralt. Cavill has done an amazing job portraying Geralt, and I will miss seeing him in the role. I am curious to see how Liam Hemsworth will take on the role, and I hope that he will be able to bring his own unique interpretation to the character. Overall, I am very excited about Season 4 of The Witcher, and I can't wait to see what it has in store.
