West Ham have made an improved offer worth £30m for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

The Hammers had a £20m bid for the England international rejected last month.

West Ham is set to pursue a potential transfer of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Although Manchester United is not actively forcing their players to leave, they will entertain offers that accurately represent the "fair market value".

West Ham and Ajax have reached a preliminary agreement for the transfer of midfielder Edson Alvarez. The club will make an initial payment of £32m, with an additional £2m tied to performance. Alvarez has agreed to personal terms and is set to travel to the UK on Tuesday for a medical examination.

Explained: Is a power struggle at West Ham affecting transfers?

We News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

The owners of West Ham were dissatisfied with the transfer activity conducted during the previous summer. Despite being amongst the top spenders in global football, having invested over £200m, several of the eight players they signed did not deliver as expected. In search of a fresh direction, they opted to appoint Tim Steidten, a highly regarded technical director from Germany renowned for his accomplishments at Bayer Leverkusen.

"Everyone I encounter acknowledges his exceptional football knowledge and extensive network within the industry. He is adept at identifying promising emerging talents. West Ham, seeking to reorient their attention from the English market to the European and global markets, have been actively pursuing established players in the Premier League. For instance, they have made bids for Joao Palhinha, Conor Gallagher, Scott McTominay, and Denis Zakaria, who had previously been at Chelsea."

Scamacca joins Atalanta

: "It appears that the players recommended by Steidten have not been receiving any bids from the team. This has led to some friction and a power struggle happening behind the scenes. Nonetheless, it is important to note that David Moyes, as the manager, ultimately holds the authority and will make the final decisions."
