According to Variety, Taylor Kinney, who left Chicago Fire in the middle of its 11th season, is set to return in the upcoming 12th season. Although the exact number of episodes he will be featured in has not been determined, sources say that his comeback is expected early in the season. Kinney portrays the character of Kelly Severide.
In January, the actor took a break from the NBC procedural to deal with a personal matter. Kinney's most recent appearance was in the 14th episode of Season 11, which aired in February. In the episode on March 1, Severide was noticeably absent as he had left town to attend an arson investigation training program, taking advantage of a significant opportunity.
Where Can I Watch 'Chicago Fire'?
The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has caused a delay in announcing the premiere date for the upcoming season, although the writers have already started working on it. Notably, Andrea Newman, who previously co-ran the show with Derek Haas, will now be the showrunner for Season 12 of Chicago Fire. It should be noted that Haas, the co-creator of the series, chose to part ways with Wolf Entertainment, the studio behind the show, after the conclusion of Season 11.
Despite ongoing speculations, NBC executives ultimately decided to keep the renowned Wednesday night One Chicago programming block intact. As in the past years, viewers can still enjoy Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 10/9c, along with Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. For those who miss the live broadcast, all episodes can be conveniently streamed on Peacock the following day. Subscriptions to Peacock are available for $5.99 per month with ads or $11.99 per month without ads.

Taylor Kinney's return to Chicago Fire is a welcome development for fans of the show. Kinney's character, Kelly Severide, is a fan favorite, and his departure from the show in the middle of Season 11 left many viewers disappointed. The actor's personal reasons for leaving the show were never fully disclosed, but it is clear that he is now ready to return to the role.
Severide's return to Chicago Fire is sure to shake things up at Firehouse 51. The character has always been a bit of a loose cannon, and his absence from the show has left a void that has yet to be filled. Severide's return could also provide some much-needed comic relief to the show, which has become increasingly dark and serious in recent seasons.
