Sydney Sweeney's Grandmothers Make Surprising Appearances in Her Latest Horror Flick

Sydney Sweeney's grandmothers had the opportunity to visit the beautiful landscapes of Italy, all because of their granddaughter's involvement in a dark and scary R-rated horror film.

During an appearance on the "Today Show" on Wednesday, Sweeney shared that she flew her grandmothers to Italy to visit her on the set of her upcoming movie "Immaculate," which is set at a convent in the Italian countryside.

The "Euphoria" star shared that she had made her family members extras as nuns and brought them to the premiere in LA, where they were filled with excitement.

Sweeney surprised her family matriarchs with a trip abroad, revealing on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon in February that it was their first time visiting Europe.

"My Grandy had always dreamed of visiting Italy. She had never been out of the country before, so I decided to surprise her," she recalled.

In the movie "Immaculate," Sweeney plays the role of Cecilia, a nun devoted to her faith. She sets out on a new chapter of her life at a convent located in a secluded part of Italy. However, her journey takes a dark turn as she discovers the disturbing truths hidden within the walls of her new residence.

"It's a challenging character, it's an interesting story," she mentioned during her discussion on Wednesday. She expressed her excitement for viewers to experience the film's controversial ending.

Sweeney acknowledged the possibility of a "mixed reaction" and stated, "I like that. I like when movies or endings spark discussion and debate. I believe it will be quite an adventure for some viewers!"

Simona Tabasco, Álvaro Morte and Benedetta Porcaroli round out the cast of the Michael Mohan-directed movie.

“Immaculate” will premiere in theaters on March 22.
