Sydney Sweeney's recent update on Euphoria season 3 has us feeling optimistic about when it will come out.
In a profile published on Wednesday, March 27, Sweeney, 26, hinted that season 3 will be "very, very wild." She also mentioned that filming for the new season will start "relatively soon."
Sweeney has been playing the role of Cassie Howard on HBO's Euphoria since season 1 in 2019. The second season premiered in 2022, leaving fans eager for more.
Originally, Euphoria season 3 was set to debut in 2025. However, it faced several significant delays. Show creator Sam Levinson was busy with his short-lived series The Idol, while cast members Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sweeney herself were busy with other projects. The 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes also contributed to the prolonged production hiatus.
An HBO spokesperson confirmed in March that they are still dedicated to making season 3 with Levinson, 39. They mentioned, "While we wait, we are giving our popular cast the chance to explore other projects."

Sweeney, on the other hand, told Who What Wear that she was not concerned about the long break in filming. She mentioned, "I actually enjoy it because it allows for both personal growth and character development for Cassie."
Sweeney mentioned that she is currently immersed in various projects, such as working on a remake of Jane Fonda's Barbarella and exploring producing opportunities through her production company, Fifty-Fifty Films. She has recently appeared in the thriller Immaculate and the romantic comedy Anyone But You, which earned over $200 million globally. (Sweeney and her fiancé Jonathan Davino served as coproducers for Anyone But You, where she also acted alongside Glen Powell.)
No matter the project, Sweeney approaches her craft with great dedication and seriousness.
"I became an actress because I love bringing characters and stories to life. I enjoy creating their stories from scratch," she shared with Who What Wear.
Sweeney's approach to acting starts with creating detailed character diaries filled with notes for each role.
On The Drew Barrymore Show in January 2022, she explained that these books serve as a journal diary map for all of her characters, starting from their birth up to the first page of the script. She shared that she extracts everything she can from the script and then fills in the gaps to understand why the character is the way they are today, exploring the memories that shaped their behavior and actions. This process allows her to creatively develop a character, just like how each of us is shaped by our own unique memories that define who we are.
