Sydney Sweeney, currently a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, has recently been featured in hit films like Anyone But You and Madame Web, as well as hosting Saturday Night Live. However, her talents truly shine in the new horror movie Immaculate.
In this film, Sweeney, aged 26, portrays Cecilia, a young American nun who relocates to Italy to assist at a convent dedicated to caring for elderly sisters in their final days. As Cecilia experiences unsettling events, she learns that she is pregnant despite not engaging in any sexual activity. The question arises: is she carrying a miraculously conceived messiah, or is there a darker force at play?
Sweeney was born to play the role of a nun on the run. Her enormous blue eyes convey sheer terror, while her baby face resembles iconic final girls. In one scene, she screams for what feels like five minutes, showcasing her vocal talent for horror.
While Sweeney has appeared in horror films before, this is the first time she truly shines as the star. She carries the entire film on her shoulders, even with a fake pregnancy belly. Previously, she has been seen in roles as the hot girl in "Anyone But You", the disaffected girl in "The White Lotus", or the hot and disaffected girl in "Euphoria".

In some of her most high-profile work, Sweeney often supports the bigger names in the cast. She shines in Euphoria as Cassie, but the spotlight is on Zendaya. Similarly, in The White Lotus, she plays a deadpan teenager, but Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett steal the show with their over-the-top performances.
However, in Immaculate, Sweeney takes center stage in nearly every scene. It feels like a perfect fit for her, like she has finally found her calling. It's reminiscent of Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body, where she broke free from her Transformers image and embraced her true power as a boy-killing goddess.
Immaculate is currently playing in theaters. One can only hope that this film will be a defining moment for Sweeney, as she excels in her role, especially when she - spoiler alert - uses her rosary beads to strangle a negligent priest. Let's see more of her in future horror movies, or better yet, in a sequel to Immaculate that we hope will be released soon.
