Sydney Sweeney is expecting an emotional return to the Euphoria set following the death of costar Angus Cloud.

In her cover story with Glamour UK on Tuesday, December 19, the 26-year-old actress expressed that it won't fully sink in until they start filming and she doesn't see Angus on set. Sweeney also acknowledged her coworkers for helping her cope with the loss of Cloud, stating, "We were constantly on the phone with each other, crying, because it was just such a shock. When we are filming, all of our eyes are on each other, and we’re there for each other, just in a different way than we’re able to when we’re all in very separate places in the world."

She concluded, "It's fascinating how someone's presence in our industry continues even after they have passed away."

Cloud portrayed the role of drug dealer Fezco on the show Euphoria, which debuted in 2019. Production for season 3 of the popular HBO series is scheduled to commence in 2024, with the release expected in 2025.

Cloud died on July 31 at age 25 following an accidental overdose.

"Today, we have had to bid farewell to an extraordinary individual with the heaviest of hearts. To all of us, Angus was not just an artist, but also a friend, a brother, and a son in a way that was truly special," his family stated. "In the past week, he buried his father and struggled deeply with this loss. Our only solace is that Angus is now reunited with his father, his best friend."

The statement also paid tribute to Cloud's legacy. "Angus was candid about his struggles with mental health, and we hope that his passing serves as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not suffer in silence," his loved ones added. "We hope that the world remembers him for his sense of humor, his laughter, and his love for everyone. At this time, we request privacy as we continue to come to terms with this tremendous loss."

Angus’ mother, Lisa Cloud, refuted speculations about her son's death being a suicide. In September, the Alameda County Coroner verified that Angus died from acute intoxication. He had cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and benzodiazepines in his system at the time of his passing.

Angus was open about his mental health and addiction battles prior to his passing. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson remembered trying to assist Angus in staying sober, making multiple efforts to help the actor.

"I could see that he was struggling," Levinson, 38, shared with People in September as he recounted the time he aided Angus in enrolling in a 30-day in-patient program. "I've been in similar situations before, where I've tried to help someone get clean. I told him, 'I enjoy working with you, and we have an incredible season ahead, but I need you to stay sober so that I can depend on you.'"

Levinson was committed to standing by Angus as he struggled with addiction. "I could sense that he wasn't as motivated for [sobriety] as the rest of us were for him," the executive producer observed. "It's a tricky situation because everyone can want it for you, but if you don't want it yourself, the self-destructive nature of addiction takes over. However, I refused to give up on him, and I wasn't going to let anyone else give up on him either."
