Sydney Sweeney is addressing misconceptions about her relationship with fiancé Jonathan Davino.
“I’ve been in a committed relationship for a significant amount of time, which is uncommon for someone in this industry and at my age,” Sweeney, 26, shared with Glamour U.K. in an interview released on Tuesday, December 19. “What I’ve observed about celebrity culture is that people enjoy elevating someone and then tearing them down.”
Sweeney's rapid ascent to stardom began with her roles in HBO's Euphoria and The White Lotus. As her fame grew, intense speculation about her personal life ignited online.
"People are always so curious about my relationships and I understand that, but I believe it's essential to keep something private for myself," she shared. "I'm very open about many aspects of my life, which sometimes causes problems, but I do make an effort to keep a part of it just for me."
She clarified details about her relationship with 38-year-old Davino, describing him as "a business guy" from Chicago. Sydney expressed frustration over a false narrative of their relationship playing out for "six years." This is the most public Sweeney has been about her relationship, revealing that she and Davino have become "producing partners."
The couple collaborated on the creation of Anyone But You as a duo through Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films production company, with her mentioning that “he played a significant role in making the whole project come together.”
“It’s amazing to collaborate with someone who understands you so deeply, who wholeheartedly embraces your ideas, your artistic vision, and your unique perspective,” Sweeney expressed, revealing that she introduced Davino to the world of producing. “And it's fantastic. I mean, who wouldn't want to work with their best friend all the time? ...I just wanted to invite everyone into my creative space.”
Sweeney remained tight-lipped about her engagement when asked for comment. The rumors about Sweeney and Davino dating started in 2018 and it was confirmed in March 2022 that they were engaged. When asked about their wedding plans in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on December 13, Sweeney kept her cards close to her chest.
“I am so busy working,” she explained. “I’m a workaholic and I love it, I love it.”

Sweeney also told ET how much she loved to work alongside her real-life partner.
