Prominent Twitch streamer FaZe Kalei recently found herself in an unexpected situation at the intersection of online gaming and the legal system. Despite her significant following of over 579,000 fans on Twitch and her affiliation with the prestigious esports organization FaZe Clan, FaZe Kalei was surprisingly disqualified from jury duty simply because of her profession as a streamer. Known for her exceptional gaming skills in popular titles like Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, and Apex Legends, FaZe Kalei has also gained a substantial audience on TikTok.
FaZe Kalei, known for her gaming-related content, recently made headlines with her latest post on X. On September 5th, she shared on social media platform X that she found herself in a jury assembly room, contemplating the weight of potentially determining someone's innocence or guilt. However, shortly thereafter, she disclosed her occupation as a Twitch streamer to the authorities, resulting in her being excused from jury duty. She humorously expressed her amusement with seven crying face emojis.
Responding to a comment, she clarified that she did not actively try to avoid jury duty this time, as it was her second encounter with the process. Initially, she resigned herself to the situation, assuming it wouldn't consume much of her time. However, to FaZe Kalei's surprise, given her previous Twitch ban, she was promptly released from jury service.
The authorities' decision to excuse FaZe Kalei from jury duty remains unclear, but in the realm of online streaming, an interesting development involves YouTube sensation Dr Disrespect. Recognized for his impressive skills in first-person shooter gaming, Dr Disrespect recently revealed that Bethesda intentionally rejected a collaboration for their newly released action role-playing game, Starfield. This disclosure came as a surprise to some, but not to those familiar with Dr Disrespect's history of controversies.
