'Supernatural' Stars: Their Current Whereabouts

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, known for their roles as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on Supernatural, not only shared a strong bond on screen but also developed a special connection with their fans.

The two actors starred in the CW drama for 15 seasons, from September 2005 to November 2020. Throughout the series' 327 episodes, they were the only cast members to appear consistently, portraying the Winchester brothers as they battled demons, monsters, ghosts, and other supernatural creatures.

Ackles, on the other hand, expressed his interest in growing the Supernatural universe. During a TV Critics’ Association press tour panel in August 2019, he playfully mentioned, "It’s a long journey. I don’t think it’s ever going to be over. It’s just going to go away for a while. I don’t know how long."

Where Are the 'Supernatural' Cast Members Now?

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who portrayed brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on Supernatural, not only developed a strong bond with each other but also established a lasting connection with their devoted fans.

The CW drama was led by the actors for 15 seasons, from September 2005 to November 2020. Throughout the series, the duo were the only cast members to appear in all 327 episodes, where they portrayed siblings hunting demons, monsters, ghosts, and other supernatural beings.

In March 2019, Ackles, Padalecki, and Misha Collins made the announcement that the show would be coming to an end. Ackles, known for his role in Gilmore Girls, expressed his gratitude for the family they had all built together in a heartfelt message to fans on Instagram. Despite struggling to find the right words, he conveyed his love and appreciation for the fans, typing through tears as he bid farewell with the message, "'Til next time. #WinchestersNeverDie."

Padalecki shared with We in May 2019 that he couldn't imagine ever truly saying goodbye to his character. He also talked about what he would miss the most about the show, mentioning how the cast had become like a family over the 15 years of working together. They had a tight-knit group because they all genuinely wanted to be there, with no one being let go unless they chose to leave.

On the other hand, Ackles looked ahead to the future of the Supernatural universe. During a TV Critics’ Association press tour panel in August 2019, he hinted at the possibility of the show continuing in some form. "It's a long journey," he said. "I don't think it will ever truly be over. It might just take a break for a while. How long that break will be, I'm not sure."

Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester)

The actor seamlessly transitioned from his role in Supernatural to his next project, Walker, in 2021. In addition to his acting career, he also owns a bar named Stereotype in Austin, Texas.

Padalecki tied the knot with Genevieve Cortese in February 2010. Together, they are proud parents to their sons Thomas and Shepherd, as well as their daughter Odette.

Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester)

Jensen Ackles, known for his role as Dean Winchester on Supernatural, made a guest appearance as Soldier Boy in the third season of The Boys on Prime Video. This reunion with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke happened in 2022. Later that year, he also joined the cast of ABC's Big Sky as a sheriff. In April 2024, it was revealed that he would be playing Justin Hartley's brother in the upcoming show Tracker.

He appeared as a U.S. Marshal in the Western film Rust, co-starring with Alec Baldwin. Unfortunately, filming for the movie came to a halt in fall 2021 due to the tragic accidental shooting that led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

In collaboration with his wife Danneel Ackles (formerly Harris), he served as executive producer for The Winchesters, a Supernatural prequel that delves into the lives of Dean and Sam's parents. Fans were delighted to hear him reprise his role as Dean through narrating the CW series.

Jensen Ackles, known for his role in Smallville, is not just an actor. He also co-owns the Family Business Beer Company in Texas with his family.

Since May 2010, Jensen has been happily married to Danneel. Together, they have a daughter named Justice and twins named Arrow and Zeppelin.

Misha Collins (Castiel)

Misha Collins, known for his role as Castiel, portrayed the character of Harvey Dent/Two Face in The CW's Gotham Knights, which premiered in March 2023. Additionally, he published his debut book of poetry titled Some Things I Still Can’t Tell You in October 2021.

He is actively involved in his charity work with Random Acts, a nonprofit organization he helped start, which supports acts of kindness, as well as the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt.

In October 2001, Collins married Victoria Vantoch. They have a son named West and a daughter named Maison.

Mark Sheppard (Crowley)

After wrapping his run on Supernatural, Sheppard appeared on Doom Patrol and on the Padalecki-produced series Walker: Independence.   

The actor shares sons Max and Will with his ex-wife, Jessica. He wed Sarah Louise Fudge in November 2015, and they welcomed daughter Isabella the following year.

Samantha Smith, also known for her role as Mary Winchester in Supernatural, bravely battled breast cancer. In July 2020, she underwent a double mastectomy. Since then, she has been actively fundraising for causes such as Equal Hope Illinois and organizations supporting breast cancer patients.

Smith has been married since 2008 and has a son.

Calvert has been keeping a low profile since the show ended. However, during his time off, he has been actively raising funds for charities, such as the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in Canada. In 2023, he made an appearance on an episode of the Supernatural spinoff, The Winchesters.

Ruth Connell (Rowena)

After her time on Supernatural, Ruth Connell took on the role of Bonnie in the 2020 film The Cursed Man. She also landed the part of Night Nurse in HBO Max's Doom Patrol, a DC Comics adaptation. Connell continued her role as Night Nurse in the spinoff series Dead Boy Detectives, which made its debut in April 2024.

In January 2024, Connell and fellow former Supernatural alum Rob Benedict welcomed a daughter, Margaret Vivian Benedict.
