Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, known for their roles as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on Supernatural, not only shared a strong bond on screen but also developed a special connection with their fans.
The two actors starred in the CW drama for 15 seasons, from September 2005 to November 2020. Throughout the series' 327 episodes, they were the only cast members to appear consistently, portraying the Winchester brothers as they battled demons, monsters, ghosts, and other supernatural creatures.
Ackles, Padalecki, and Misha Collins shared in March 2019 that the show would be coming to an end. Ackles expressed his gratitude for the family they had built together, stating on Instagram, “I love y’all and am more appreciative of y’all than my meager vocabulary could hope to describe.” He also mentioned typing through tears and asked for forgiveness, signing off with “‘Til next time. #WinchestersNeverDie.”
In a May 2019 interview with We, Padalecki admitted feeling like he would never truly say goodbye to his character. Reflecting on the show, he emphasized the strong bond that had developed among the cast and crew. Padalecki highlighted the sense of family that had grown over the 15 years of working together, noting that those who remained on set were there because they truly wanted to be.
Ackles, on the other hand, expressed his interest in growing the Supernatural universe. During a TV Critics’ Association press tour panel in August 2019, he playfully mentioned, "It’s a long journey. I don’t think it’s ever going to be over. It’s just going to go away for a while. I don’t know how long."
