Jensen Ackles, a highly sought-after actor, has garnered immense popularity as a top choice to portray the live-action Batman in the DCU. Recently, Ackles amusingly addressed these rumors at a convention, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Taking charge of the DCU, James Gunn and Peter Safran have fueled speculations regarding the actors to don the roles of Superman and Batman. The inaugural Batman movie in the DCU, titled Batman: The Brave and The Bold, promises to explore the dynamic between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian. A significant portion of fans fervently support Ackles for the role of Batman in this film.
Ackles expressed his desire to portray Batman in the DCU during a recent fan event. In a clip shared by HomeofDCU, he clearly states, "Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time?... I would love it. Sign me up." In a playful manner, Ackles jokingly suggests that Pedro Pascal will most likely secure the role, stating, "Will I be mad when Pedro Pascal gets it? Yeah. God bless you, Pedro. You just keep killing it, buddy. Let me know when you pass on something."
Ackles also acknowledged the ongoing writers' strike, revealing that production has come to a halt in the entertainment industry. He explains, "There's a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything." Although Ackles states that no one from DC Studios has approached him about the role, he remains open to the idea. However, he teasingly adds, "Even if I knew. I wouldn’t tell you."
It is worth mentioning that Ackles has portrayed DC characters in their animated movies. He lent his voice to Jason Todd in Batman: Under the Red Hood and also portrayed Batman in the Batman: The Long Halloween movies and Legion of Super-Heroes. Furthermore, Ackles will reprise the role of Batman in the upcoming DC animated film Justice League: Warworld.
In recent animated films, Ackles has proven to be a remarkable voice actor for Batman. His portrayal as a live-action superhero in The Boys has only strengthened the belief that he is a perfect fit for the role. However, Gunn has a distinct vision for these movies, leaving uncertainty about his preference for Batman in the film. Moreover, if The Flash resets the DCEU and the film's ending is intended to establish the DCU, they might already have their Batman in place.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold is in development at DC Studios.
