Jensen Ackles' impressive fan art showcases his potential as Batman in the DC Universe Stay tuned for the highly anticipated announcement of the official Batman casting!

The DC Universe has yet to select an actor to play the Caped Crusader, but new fan art featuring Jensen Ackles as the iconic DC hero adds more weight to the argument for his casting in Batman: The Brave and The Bold. While James Gunn and Peter Safran are busy working on the new DC Universe, there are still a number of well-known Justice League characters that they have not yet cast for the franchise. Despite already securing their new Clark Kent and other superheroes for Superman: Legacy, fans eagerly await the announcement of who will be chosen for some of the more significant DC characters.

Among them is Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, who was last portrayed by Ben Affleck in The Flash movie as part of the DCEU. Ackles has emerged as a popular pick for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, as demonstrated by new fan art (via @itssan17) depicting him as the Dark Knight.

When Will The DC Universe's Batman Casting Be Announced?

Latest Batman fan art showcases Ackles as the caped crusader with the iconic Batmobile poised behind him. The renowned actor, known for his role in Supernatural, has openly expressed his desire to portray the legendary DC character, even lending his voice to the animated version of the Gotham City vigilante in DC's Tomorrowverse.

Despite hiring The Flash's Andy Muschietti as the director, fans of Batman: The Brave and The Bold will have to be patient for DC Studios to cast the leading hero. The focus of the film has been confirmed to be Bruce's discovery of his son, Damian Wayne, who is one of the well-known Robins from DC lore. However, due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, there is currently no script available and no one can be hired for that role.

Right before the SAG-AFTRA strike came into effect, Gunn disappointingly revealed that they had not yet found an actor for the role of Batman. With no set release date for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, it is possible that this project is not a top priority for DC Studios at this time, especially considering the ongoing Hollywood strikes. Without a script, the casting process could also face further delays.

Although Ackles would be an ideal choice for Batman, it ultimately depends on the age of DC Universe's version of Bruce, as Gunn is rebooting the franchise with younger versions of the iconic heroes. Whoever is selected to play Bruce will not only star in their own franchise but also appear in other DC Universe projects in the future. Even if Ackles does not land the role in Batman: The Brave and The Bold, it is hopeful that Gunn will find another suitable role for the beloved actor, who already has a strong following among DC fans.
