The role of Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy has been secured by X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult, according to Deadline. The film is steadily assembling its cast of well-known DC characters.
Hoult's acting career began in childhood and he has been involved in multiple franchises, including his portrayal of Beast in the X-Men universe. However, it seems that he will now be transitioning to the DC universe to take on the role of Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor. This iconic character was originally introduced by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and made his first appearance in Action Comics #23 as Lex Luthor.
Lex Luthor, one of Superman's most memorable adversaries in the comics, has engaged in countless battles with the superhero. While previous portrayals by Gene Hackman and Jesse Eisenberg have left fans wanting more, particularly Eisenberg's performance in Batman vs Superman, all eyes are now on Hoult to deliver a compelling rendition of the character.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Holt's portrayal of the character and are thrilled to see him secure such a significant role, especially considering his previous near-misses with playing other major DC characters like Batman. The rest of the main cast for Superman: Legacy includes David Cornswet as the iconic hero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan.
Currently scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, there is still plenty of time before Superman: Legacy hits theaters. There will be more casting announcements and plot details to come, and we'll make sure to keep you informed on all the latest updates regarding the highly-anticipated Superman movie.
