The spouse of adult film star Stormy Daniels revealed plans to potentially depart the country should former President Donald Trump be acquitted in his Manhattan legal proceedings, citing a strong possibility of relocation.
Barrett Blade, the husband of adult film actress Stormy Daniels, mentioned in an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett that there is a possibility they might move out of the country if former President Donald Trump is acquitted in his Manhattan criminal trial. Blade expressed concerns about the backlash his wife has been receiving, as she plays a significant role in the controversy surrounding a hush money payment made to Daniels in 2016 on behalf of Trump.
Blade expressed his concerns on the situation, stating that he doesn't see a positive outcome for her. Whether Trump is found guilty or not, Blade believes that Daniels will continue to face backlash from the President's supporters.
He emphasized that the situation is challenging for both of them, expressing a desire to move forward and live normal lives. However, Blade lamented that it may be difficult to achieve that, which saddens him.
Daniels claims she had a one-night stand with Trump in 2006 and was paid off in 2016 to keep silent about the affair. Prosecutors allege that Trump broke the law by falsifying business records to reimburse his former lawyer Michael Cohen and conceal a “hush money” payment made to Daniels on Trump’s behalf. The controversy dates back to January 2018, when the Wall Street Journal reported on the $130,000 payment. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denied the affair.
On the witness stand last week, Daniels described meeting Trump at a celebrity golf tournament, in addition to salacious details of her alleged sexual encounter with him. She also testified about the interest that Trump and Cohen seemed to have had in buying her story after the “Access Hollywood” tape came out just before the 2016 election.
Trump's lawyers questioned Daniels' credibility during cross examination. Attorney Susan Necheles claimed that Daniels made up the alleged sexual encounter to profit from it. However, Daniels defended herself and maintained that she was being truthful.
Daniels responded to the accusations by stating, "If that story was false, I would have written it differently." She stood by her account of the encounter with Trump.
Blade echoed his wife's comments when asked by Burnett about the defense's claim that Daniels made up her story. He described her as a "brilliant writer" and mentioned that she would have written something "way better" about the Trump story.
Blade also pointed out that Daniels simply wants to move on with her life.
Blade mentioned that despite the media constantly hearing the same thing repeatedly, it can be tiring for his wife to have to repeat herself constantly. However, he described her as a warrior who is able to handle it.
He also mentioned that the hate directed towards his wife does not bother him personally. Blade explained that Daniels is accustomed to receiving negative comments and vitriol on social media, so she is prepared for it.
He continued, "This is all about her standing up for her beliefs and speaking the truth, and I don't think many people understand that."
