Actor Matthew Perry's untimely demise at the age of 54 has left celebrities in a state of mourning. Perry tragically passed away due to an apparent drowning incident on Saturday, October 28. Responding to a call about cardiac arrest at a residence in Los Angeles, authorities discovered the actor unconscious in a jacuzzi, adding to the sorrow surrounding his loss.

Ian Ziering, who collaborated with Perry on Beverly Hills, 90210, expressed his condolences on Instagram, stating, "RIP Matthew. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. He was an incredible person, and this news is truly heartbreaking."

Prior to his passing, Perry openly talked about the challenges he encountered following his rise to fame on Friends. The popular sitcom, which aired from 1994 to 2004, propelled Perry to international recognition through his portrayal of Chandler Bing. However, behind the scenes, Perry struggled with addiction following a Jet Ski accident in 1997.

Perry developed an addiction to Vicodin, which later escalated to alcohol abuse. In 2000, he was admitted to the hospital due to pancreatitis and continued his detoxification process while filming Friends. Throughout the years, Perry made numerous efforts to achieve sobriety, serving as a source of inspiration for his decision to establish a sober living facility exclusively for men in 2013.

Following his recovery journey, Perry chronicled his experiences in his memoir, titled Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.

"I have been the subject of countless writings in the past, and I believe it is now necessary for people to hear my own perspective. There have been moments of great accomplishments and moments of deep despair. Despite facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, I have managed to survive and share my experiences, even though it may have appeared unlikely. All of these stories are captured within this book, and I regret that it is not presented in a more interactive format," he tweeted in anticipation of the book's unveiling in November 2022.

Ian Ziering, who collaborated with Perry on Beverly Hills, 90210, expressed his condolences on Instagram, stating, "Rest in peace Matthew. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. He was a wonderful person, and this is incredibly sorrowful."

Perry openly discussed the challenges he faced after achieving fame on the television show Friends before his passing. Despite becoming a household name for his portrayal of Chandler Bing from 1994 to 2004, Perry experienced setbacks due to addiction following a Jet Ski accident in 1997.

The journey involved extreme highs and lows, and there were moments when it seemed unlikely that I would survive. Nonetheless, I have emerged with a story to tell, which is captured within these pages. I apologize for its lack of interactive elements," he announced on Twitter prior to the book's publication in November 2022.
