When will Starfield be available for preload on Steam? Bethesda's announcement of Starfield at E3 2018 captured a lot of attention. The game remained shrouded in mystery for years until its gameplay reveal in 2022. Despite multiple delays, Starfield has finally reached the gold stage and will soon be accessible to players worldwide. As the game is now being printed onto discs, preload availability is just around the corner.
How to Preload Starfield
Preload has commenced for Xbox players, but those who pre-ordered on Steam will have to exercise a bit of patience before they can initiate the download for this eagerly awaited science fiction RPG adventure. Nevertheless, in the interim, here are the instructions on how to preload and be fully prepared for day one.
To ensure a smooth preload process, players must first confirm their pre-order of Starfield. If the pre-order was made before August 17th, Starfield will automatically initiate the preload on Xbox. In case the preload doesn't commence as expected, players can manually trigger it by checking for updates. Moreover, gamers with a capable PC can also preload the game right away if they have pre-ordered it on Xbox. This convenience stems from the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, which enables players to enjoy digitally purchased games on both Xbox platforms and Windows 10/11 PCs.
Speaking of which, PC players may have to preload Starfield manually in case it doesn't initiate automatically. On the left side of the Xbox App on PC, players will come across Starfield listed, which will display "Update Required". By clicking on it, the update should commence.
How Much Space is Required for Starfield?
Irrespective of the gaming platform being used to play Starfield, players must ensure that they have sufficient storage space available. Starfield is a massive game and requires a substantial 125 GB of storage capacity. If players do not have enough available space, Starfield cannot be preloaded. Fortunately, both Xbox and PC users have options to expand their storage. Alternatively, players can uninstall one or two games, which should free up enough space for Starfield. Due to its extensive file size, downloading Starfield will take some time, varying depending on the internet connection speed.
When Will Starfield Be Available For Preload on Steam?
Regrettably, Steam players must wait an additional two weeks before being able to preload Starfield. The preloading date on Steam is set for August 30th, just one day before Early Access begins for players who pre-ordered the Premium Edition of Starfield. For Steam players with slower internet connections, this might result in potential missed opportunities during the Early Access period.
