Satoru Noda, the creator of Golden Kamuy, is bringing his ice hockey manga Dogsred to Shonen Jump's list of simulpub series.
Shonen Jump's official account, previously known as Twitter, announced that Dogsred, a seinen sports manga by Noda, will be released simultaneously in both Western and Japanese markets. Starting from November 8, the series will be part of Shonen Jump's catalog of simul-series, and the latest chapters of the English translation will be accessible for free on VIZ Media's website.
Dogsred serialization started in Weekly Young Jump on July 27, 2023. The series takes place in 2010 and centers around Ro Shirakawa, a middle-school figure skater. After coming close to winning a gold medal at the All-Japan Junior Championships, Ro unexpectedly goes on a rampage following his performance. This results in his immediate disqualification from the competition and a lifetime ban from all future figure skating events. Following the incident, Ro relocates to the town of Tomakomai, where he encounters the Genma brothers, Koichi Genma and Keiichi Genma. It is through their introduction that Ro discovers the fast-paced and brutal world of ice hockey.
Satoru Noda Revives Debut Manga With Dogsred
This isn't Noda's first ice hockey series. Dogsred is actually a relaunch of the manga series Supinamarada!, which was Noda's debut work released in July 2011 for Weekly Young Jump. However, Supinamarada! didn't gain the same level of popularity as Noda's later works. His editor suggested discontinuing the series after its sixth volume, and it concluded in November 2012. Despite its commercial failure, Noda's subsequent work, Golden Kamuy, revived interest in the ice hockey genre, leading to the release of Dogsred.
Dogsred has been serialized for less than five months. However, there are concerns among fans about its production schedule, as Noda's health and chronic pain issues may hinder the manga's progress. Noda experiences biceps tendonitis on his dominant arm, which affects his drawing speed. The Weekly Young Jump editorial department has announced that there will be more breaks to allow Noda to seek treatment for his chronic pain while maintaining the quality of his art. They apologize to readers who have been anticipating Noda's work and request continued support for Noda and Dogsred.
Dogsred will be available to read on VIZ.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am excited about the release of Dogsred, the new ice hockey manga by Satoru Noda, the creator of Golden Kamuy. I am a big fan of Golden Kamuy, and I am eager to see what Noda will do with a new sports manga. I am also interested in the setting of Dogsred, which is the world of ice hockey. I have never read a manga about ice hockey before, so I am curious to see how Noda will portray the sport.
I am concerned about Noda's health, however. Noda has been experiencing biceps tendonitis on his dominant arm, which affects his drawing speed. The Weekly Young Jump editorial department has announced that there will be more breaks to allow Noda to seek treatment for his chronic pain while maintaining the quality of his art. I hope that Noda will be able to stay healthy and continue to draw Dogsred for many years to come.
