Shocking Twist: These Cancelled TV Shows Suddenly Vanish from Streaming Services: From ‘Willow’ to ‘Minx’

Popular TV shows like 'Willow' and 'Minx' have been unexpectedly removed from streaming services like Disney+, Hulu, Max, and Paramount+ Fans are left shocked and disappointed after their favorite shows were pulled following their cancellations Find out the details here

Streamers like Hulu, Disney+, and Max have garnered attention due to their choice of discontinuing and subsequently eliminating shows from their available offerings.

Hulu astonished users by revealing its intention to erase shows, including Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep, which were terminated after just one season. The initial announcement of this plan was made in May 2023, as part of a larger corporate strategy to reduce streaming expenses.

Disney CEO Robert Iger stated in a statement that as the business expands globally, they have recognized that a substantial amount of content they have produced is not effectively driving subscriber growth. Consequently, they are now adopting a more targeted approach in determining the content they create. This decision coincided with the recent merger of HBO Max and Discovery, resulting in the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Several original movies, such as Moonshot starring Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse, and the 2020 remake of The Witches featuring Anne Hathaway, have been quietly removed from HBO Max, which is now known as Max. Additionally, TV shows that were cancelled due to the merger news have also been affected. One of these affected programs is Gordita Chronicles, a comedy series that premiered in June 2022. The show revolves around Cucu Castelli as she reminisces on her 1980s childhood after her family's relocation from the Dominican Republic to Florida.

Content: Starring Olivia Goncalves, Juan Javier Cardenas, Diana-Maria Riva, Savannah Nicole Ruiz, Noah Rico, and Cosette Hauer, Gordita Chronicles was also produced by industry veterans Zoe Saldaña and Eva Longoria. Reflecting on the show's untimely end and removal from Max, Longoria expressed sadness over the lack of opportunity for Gordita Chronicles to flourish.

"I'm still confused about the reason. We're so close to the end," the actress expressed to The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023. "Are you kidding me? Do you realize the amount of money that has already been invested in developing, writing, producing, shooting, editing, and marketing this show?"

Continuing, Longoria stated, "I believe that with these mergers, it was simply a case of executives making decisions without understanding our industry. They are not producers and they are not part of our guilds. When you solely focus on the bottom-line figures or view success solely through economic output, you miss the bigger picture. You overlook the other aspects."

TV Shows Pulled From Streaming Services After Getting Canceled: From 'Willow' to 'Minx'

Streamers like Hulu, Disney+, and Max have garnered attention by cancelling and subsequently removing shows from their services.

Hulu caused astonishment among users by revealing its intention to eliminate shows, such as Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep, which were canceled after a single season from its platform. Originally announced in May 2023 as part of a corporate-wide strategy to reduce streaming expenses.

Disney CEO Robert Iger stated that as they expand their business globally, they have recognized that a significant amount of the content they have produced is not effectively increasing their subscriber growth. In response, they are now becoming more selective and precise in the content they create. This decision follows the recent merger of HBO Max and Discovery, resulting in the formation of a new company called Warner Bros. Discovery.

Max, formerly known as HBO Max, recently made the decision to remove a number of original films from its streaming service. This included the films Moonshot, featuring Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse, as well as the 2020 remake of The Witches, starring Anne Hathaway. Additionally, TV shows that were canceled during the merger news have also been affected.

One of the programs that faced a short-lived future at HBO Max was Gordita Chronicles. This comedy series, which premiered in June 2022, centered around the character Cucu Castelli as she reflected on her 1980s upbringing after her family's relocation from the Dominican Republic to Florida.

Starring Olivia Goncalves, Juan Javier Cardenas, Diana-Maria Riva, Savannah Nicole Ruiz, Noah Rico, and Cosette Hauer, Gordita Chronicles was executive produced by Zoe Saldaña and Eva Longoria. However, one year after its conclusion and removal from Max, Longoria expressed disappointment that the show didn't have the opportunity to flourish.

"I don't understand why. We're at the finish line," the actress expressed to The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023. "Are you joking? Do you realize the immense amount of money that has already been invested in developing, writing, producing, shooting, editing, and marketing this show?"

Longoria further added: "I believe that with these mergers, it was simply a group of executives making decisions without any understanding of our industry. They are not producers, nor are they part of our guilds. If you solely focus on the bottom-line figures or measure success solely based on economic output, you are completely missing the point. You are disregarding the bigger picture."
