Summary

Kasra Farahani, director of Loki season 2 episode 3, commented on Jonathan Majors' arrest, saying it was a surprise.

Filming for Loki season 2 had concluded prior to Majors' arrest, thus his significant role in the series remains unchanged. While his arrest has affected his other future projects, it is uncertain whether he will continue to portray the villain in the Multiverse Saga of the MCU after the second season of Loki.

Kasra Farahani, director of episode 3, "1893," in Loki season 2, has addressed Jonathan Majors' arrest in March 2023. Majors first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as He Who Remains in the finale of Loki season 1 and later portrayed Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors' character is set to become a significant antagonist in the MCU's Multiverse Saga. However, his role was put in jeopardy due to the assault allegations that led to his arrest. Marvel Studios has not provided much information about these allegations or Majors' future in the MCU, but various individuals within the studio have shared comments regarding the ongoing case.

In a recent interview with Variety, Kasra Farahani, the director of Loki season 2, episode 3, "1893," discussed his transition from being a production designer to a director on the Disney+ series. Farahani was asked about the allegations against Majors since the episode introduced another variant of Kang the Conqueror named Victor Timely, also portrayed by Majors. Farahani briefly mentioned that the news of Majors' arrest was surprising and then expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to direct the episode, highlighting the enjoyable experience of working with Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Majors himself.

The surprise was undeniable. However, I have limited knowledge on the matter, except to acknowledge that our time on set was truly remarkable. The cast formed a remarkable group, collaborating seamlessly. Tom, Jonathan, and Owen all brought forth their own ideas effortlessly. There was no drama on set, simply pure enjoyment. As my first significant directing opportunity, I consider myself incredibly lucky to work with such talented actors, making the directing process much smoother for me.

Filming for the second season of Loki took place from June to October 2022, which means that the entire Phase 5 season was already filmed before Jonathan Majors' arrest on March 25, 2023. In a previous interview with Variety, Loki executive producer Kevin Wright confirmed that there were no additional photography sessions for Loki season 2. He stated that Majors would still play an important role in the series as it would be hasty to make any changes without knowing the full storyline. By the time of Majors' arrest, production for the season was almost complete, making it impractical to remove him.

Jonathan Majors' arrest had an impact on several of his upcoming projects, including The Man in My Basement and Otis and Zelma. In September 2023, Variety reported that Majors' next important hearing was scheduled for October 25. It remains uncertain what Majors' future holds as the main villain in the Multiverse Saga after Loki season 2. However, he is currently listed to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, set to be released in 2026. As of now, it is expected that Majors will continue to appear as Victor Timely and potentially other variants of Kang the Conqueror in the remaining episodes of Loki season 2 on Disney+.
