Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 7.
Summary
Sabine Wren is withholding crucial information from Ezra Bridger, concealing the details of her arrival on Peridea that could potentially lead to the resurgence of the Imperial Remnant.
In addition, Sabine is keeping another secret from Ezra - the presence of Jacen Syndulla, the child of Hera Syndulla and Jedi Kanan Jarrus. Revealing this knowledge to Ezra might provide solace as he mourns the loss of his mentor.
Sabine Wren's secrecy stems from her need to shield Ezra's emotions and prevent him from experiencing disappointment if they cannot escape Peridea.
Sabine remains tight-lipped about her arrival on Peridea, undoubtedly due to the potential repercussions it could have on Ezra's hard-won victory over Thrawn. Allowing Thrawn and his forces to resurface in the main galaxy and revive the Imperial Remnant would undoubtedly be a dire outcome. Understandably, Ezra will likely experience a mix of anger and anxiety over this unexpected twist, while Sabine desires a moment to revel in their long-awaited reunion, brief as it may be. Yet, there is another secret Sabine has yet to disclose to Ezra, one that will undoubtedly bring him immense joy: a new addition to their team aboard the Ghost.
Sabine Hasn't Told Ezra About Jacen Syndulla
Why Wouldn't Sabine Tell Ezra About Kanan And Hera's Son?
In the seventh episode of Ahsoka, titled "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness," the viewers are provided with further details about the events Sabine previously informed Ezra about during his absence. It is revealed that the Empire has been overthrown, and the New Republic has taken its place. There is speculation regarding the Emperor's demise, while Hera Syndulla has now assumed command of a fleet and Garazeb Orrelios is involved in training new recruits. Surprisingly, Sabine discloses that Ahsoka has taken her under her wing as an apprentice, diverting Ezra's inquiries about their arduous journey home. Ezra is thrilled to hear these updates, but one significant piece of information is conspicuously absent from Sabine's account: she makes no mention of Hera's son, Jacen Syndulla. Undoubtedly, Ezra would have commented on it if she had. So, the question remains: why has this joyful news been concealed from him?
Jacen, the son of Jedi Kanan Jarrus and Hera, would bring solace to Ezra, who was deeply affected by the loss of his master. Kanan's selfless sacrifice to protect Sabine, Ezra, and Hera, in the face of an Imperial fuel tank explosion, propelled Ezra to make his own heroic sacrifice against Thrawn. However, the absence of his master left Ezra distraught, with no source of solace on Peridea. Learning about Jacen, the living embodiment of his beloved master's legacy, would provide immense comfort to Ezra. The prospect of meeting and potentially training Kanan's Force-sensitive son would fill him with excitement and anticipation.
Sabine hasn't told Ezra about Jacen because she has only shared factual information and very few personal stories. She may be concerned about the impact on Ezra if they are unable to leave Peridea. She worries that if he knew about Jacen, his desire to return home would intensify, and the disappointment of being unable to leave could devastate him. In her misguided attempt to safeguard Ezra's feelings, Sabine's choice to keep secrets may have repercussions in the upcoming season finale of Ahsoka.
