Embracing the Dark Side in Jedi: Survivor - Consequences & Lore

Discover the consequences of turning to the dark side of the Force in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's final chapter Should players embrace the darkness? Explore the implications for Cal and the Star Wars lore

In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Cal is a Jedi Knight who has chosen to remain on the Light Side of the Force and respect the Order, despite his traumas. However, the unjust war against the Empire puts him in a difficult position, tempting him to tap into his Dark Side to save his crew. Cal's first significant flirtation with the Dark Side occurs when he faces Lank Denvik, the chief supervisor of the Imperial Security Bureau, on Nova Garon. Although he is tempted to kill the defenseless Denvik, he resists the urge with the help of Merrin.

Even though he clings to the Light Side, Cal finds himself in a life-or-death situation where he appears to have no choice but to utilize the morbid Force abilities. However, it is up to the player to prompt him to do so. Fans of Jedi: Survivor are now wondering whether to let him embrace the darkness and what the consequences of doing so would be.

In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's final chapter, players are faced with a difficult decision: embrace the dark side of the Force to defeat Bode, or resist its temptation while pursuing him on Nova Garon.

What happens when Cal embraces his darkness in the Officer's Quarters? A new ability is unlocked, which can be activated by pressing the RS and LS (R3 and L3) on the controller and 4 on the keyboard. However, this power is optional until Cal confronts Bode during the final boss fight. When Bode pins Cal down and begins to relentlessly punch him, players must give in to the darkness to prevent Cal from being killed. While players can still refuse to use the Dark Force, doing so would make the battle much more challenging.

Using the Dark Side of the Force in Jedi: Survivor does not have any consequences for Cal. Surprisingly, it does not turn him into a Dark Jedi nor does it impact the New Game Plus feature. However, it is worth noting that remaining on the Light Side does not yield any hidden trophies/achievements for players. What if Cal decides to stick to the Light Side and avoid the use of the Dark Force?

Cal must survive Bode's chases without relying on the Dark Force, but doing so will lead to Bode's inevitable victory. Embracing the darkness is an unavoidable aspect of the game, and players will need to do so at least once to achieve success. However, some may question if this aligns with the moral code of the Star Wars universe.

Cal is not alone in his struggle to balance the Light and Dark Sides of the Force. Revan, a Jedi Knight who lived 4,000 years before the events of Jedi: Survivor, also succumbed to the Dark Side in order to defeat the Mandalorian and Sith Emperor. However, despite this, Cal stands out as one of the few Jedi who have successfully navigated the dangerous waters of both sides of the Force. Don't miss out on the chance to experience Cal's journey in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X & S.
