Shawn Mendes is gearing up to perform on stage and in the studio.

He recently announced on Instagram that he will be headlining Rock In Rio on Sept 22nd. The singer expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s been a really long time since i last played live and I’m so excited to share that I’ll be headlining Rock In Rio on Sept 22nd. I’ve missed being on stage and seeing you all in person so much!”

Mendes, who is 25 years old, shared his excitement for his upcoming gig in a recent post. He also mentioned that he has been working on new music.

"I've been busy working on a new album and I'm really looking forward to performing these new songs live for you all. Can't wait to see you there," he expressed. "I love you all!!!!"

Rock in Rio 2024 is scheduled to take place from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 22 at Parque Olímpico do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Along with Mendes, Katy Perry, Charlie Puth, and Travis Scott are among the artists set to perform.

This music festival will be Mendes' second performance in the past year. Previously, he sang a duet with his friend Niall Horan on Friday, March 1 at Horan's The Show: Live on Tour at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London. They sang an acoustic version of Mendes' popular song "Treat You Better" from his second album, Illuminate. Mendes also made a brief appearance at Ed Sheeran's Multiplication Tour in June 2023.

Mendes has not gone on tour since his Wonder: The World Tour in 2022. He started the tour in late June 2022 but had to postpone it for three weeks to prioritize his mental health. Eventually, he decided to cancel the remaining shows to focus on his well-being.

In an Instagram post, Mendes explained, “I was eager to return to performing live after a long break because of the pandemic. However, I underestimated how challenging touring would be after such a long hiatus. After discussions with my team and seeking help from health professionals, I realized the importance of taking time for myself to recharge and return stronger than before.”
