Camila Cabello Opens Up About the Struggles of Rekindling Romance with Shawn Mendes

Yes, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes tried to give their relationship another chance, but they realized that getting back together was not the right decision for them.

Cabello, 27, shared during her interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast on Wednesday, March 6, that when they briefly got back together in April 2023, things just didn't feel right between her and Mendes, 25.

Fortunately, I was at a point in my life where I realized this quickly. We both realized that things weren't right and there was no need to force it to work. We decided it was best to just be friends, support each other, and move on to grow as individuals.

Cabello and Mendes first went public with their relationship in July 2019. However, after over two years together, they announced their breakup in November 2021 through a joint statement on social media.

Cabello hinted on “Call Her Daddy” that their brief reconciliation last spring was her doing.

"I tend to be impulsive in that way," Camila shared. "If I feel something, I just say it. I'm not very good at holding back. I prefer to speak my mind and deal with the consequences later. The next day, I wake up and see that it's all over the news. But I chose to go down that path. It is what it is. It was a great experience, a fun time, a fun moment."

She continued, "I will always care about him and love him. He's such a good person and I'm lucky because some people have exes that are awful, and he is not. He's a really kind, good person."

We confirmed that by June 2023 Cabello and Mendes had called it quits for good.

Camila was the one who ultimately decided to end things,” a source shared with Us. Mendes is feeling very upset that things didn’t work out, as a lot of their old problems resurfaced after spending so much time together.

Another source revealed to Us that Cabello and Mendes were initially excited about the possibility of rekindling their relationship.

The insider shared that when they reunited, it brought back nostalgic feelings from when they first started dating. However, after a few months, they were reminded of the reasons why they broke up initially.
