Senior Hamas Official Killed in Attack in Southern Beirut

Hamas confirms the tragic loss of a top-ranking official, Saleh Al Arouri, in a targeted attack in southern Beirut, Lebanon The incident underscores the escalating tensions and security challenges faced by the organization in the region

On Tuesday, Hamas reported that one of its top officials was killed in an attack in southern Beirut, Lebanon. The Hamas media outlet, Al Aqsa TV, announced that Saleh Al Arouri, the deputy leader of Hamas' political bureau, had been "killed in a cowardly Israeli airstrike in Beirut."

Al Arouri was regarded as a key figure in the formation of the military wing, known as the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. He was situated in Beirut.

According to the Lebanese news agency NNA, a deadly attack on a Hamas office in the Beirut suburb of al-Mushrifiyyeh resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals.

Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, commended the Israeli security and intelligence agencies for successfully carrying out the assassination of Al Arouri in Beirut. He expressed his congratulations to the IDF, the Shin Bet, the Mossad, and the security forces for their operation.

Danon added that anyone connected to the 7/10 massacre will be contacted and held accountable. CNN has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for additional information.

In October, the Israeli army destroyed the home of Saleh Al Arouri in the town of Aroura in the occupied West Bank. The IDF stated that they demolished the residence of the deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, who was responsible for Hamas activities in Judea and Samaria.
