Scheana Shay opened up about how Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss‘ affair — and the subsequent controversy — took a toll on her body.
"Since having my daughter Summer, I made a conscious effort to avoid constantly weighing myself to prevent becoming obsessed with the number on the scale. However, the past two months of my life have been incredibly hectic, and various factors have affected my eating and exercise routines," Scheana, 37, shared during the August 11 episode of her podcast, "Scheananigans." "As a result, I unintentionally lost more weight."
The reality TV personality acknowledged that an unexpected weigh-in served as a significant wake-up call for her.
"The other day, I retrieved the scale from the closet as I no longer keep it on display to avoid revisiting that place," she continued. "Stepping on the scale, I realized it was time to increase my food intake and amp up my workout routine. I want to avoid being in the 100s, as I believe it's not a healthy weight for me. It vividly illustrates the impact of stress and anxiety on the body."
In her conversation with nutritionist Lauren Hubert, Scheana also made noteworthy remarks about the emerging trend of Ozempic.
Scheana shared that she has been asked if she uses Ozempic, but her answer is a resounding no. She explains that it is not something she would personally do. While discussing the topic on her podcast for the first time, Scheana also mentioned that she knows other individuals who have made jokes about using Ozempic as a solution after having a baby. However, she questions whether that is the intended purpose of the medication. In the past, Scheana has been open about how her mental health was negatively affected by the scandal involving Sandoval and Raquel. It was confirmed in March that Sandoval and Ariana Madix ended their relationship after almost ten years due to Sandoval's infidelity.
In the same month, Scheana made headlines when Raquel, aged 28, filed an order of protection against the podcast host. This came after an alleged physical altercation between them following their joint appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. As a result, they were unable to film the reunion together and were kept 100 yards apart throughout the day. However, the temporary restraining order was later dropped.
After the reunion aired on Bravo, Scheana shared her state of mind on Instagram in May. She revealed that she had increased her therapy sessions, started working out again, and was focusing on self-care to be the best mom she could be. The past few months had taken a toll on her, but she expressed feeling strong and thanked her followers for being part of her journey.
Scheana gained media attention during the filming of season 11 when a fan requested a photo with the entire cast, including Sandoval, in Lake Tahoe. In response to the negative feedback, Scheana defended herself on July 19 through her Instagram Story, stating that she didn't feel the need to justify taking a photo with her fellow cast members.
Despite facing criticism online, Ariana, 38, clarified that she wasn't bothered by Scheana's decision to take a photo with her former boyfriend.
In an Instagram Stories post, she expressed admiration for @Scheana, highlighting her act of taking a photo with a fan on their birthday. Despite facing negative comments, she defended Scheana's kind gesture, stating that the entire cast often stops for photos together, regardless of any ongoing personal issues.
