Say Goodbye to Windows 10: No More Major Updates

Microsoft has shifted its focus to the latest version of Windows, Windows 11, leaving Windows 10 with no further major updates Users should consider upgrading to Windows 11 for the latest features and security enhancements

.

Windows 11 made its debut in October 2021, leaving Windows 10 in the background. Microsoft recently announced that Windows 10 will not be receiving any more major updates going forward.

Microsoft has confirmed that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025, as previously announced. However, they have also revealed that there will be no further updates to the operating system. The final version of Windows 10, 22H2, was released in October 2022, shortly after the update for Windows 11. This decision is not surprising, given that 22H2 was a minor update.

In their blog post, Microsoft urged users to transition to Windows 11 as soon as possible, as there will be no more feature updates for Windows 10. For those who must remain on Windows 10, it is recommended to update to version 22H2 in order to continue receiving monthly security updates until the end of support in 2025.

The company has revealed that they are currently working on a Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) version of Windows 11. Similar to the Windows 10 LTSC editions, this version will be geared towards embedded devices and PCs that require a stable software platform without frequent changes. Windows 10 LTSC excludes Cortana, Edge, or any Universal Windows Apps, and has gained a following among home PC users looking for a less cluttered Windows experience.

If you are still using Windows 10, be aware that you have just over two years left of security updates. After this time, it will be necessary to switch to Windows 11 (or desktop Linux) to ensure your system remains secure.
