Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 4 has revealed Sasuke Uchiha's fate, confirming that he was turned into a tree after being bitten by Code's Claw Grimes. This twist resulted in one of the humanoid God Trees looking like Sasuke, leaving fans relieved that he was still alive but disappointed at the missed opportunity for him to team up with the series protagonist. Just like Naruto, Sasuke's absence from the story left many feeling that his character was being wasted.
Disclaimer: Spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex and Jujutsu Kaisen manga are included in this article. That being said, instead of labeling him as "wasted," Sasuke's situation could be compared to that of Jujutsu Kaisen's Satoru Gojo.
How is Sasuke set to become the next Gojo in Boruto?

The Naruto manga revealed that Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha were confirmed as the strongest shinobi in the world, posing a challenge for creator Masashi Kishimoto and his team to create a new manga focused on the next generation of Shinobi. The anime also showed Naruto and Sasuke rescuing the new generation, contrasting the focus of the Boruto manga on the upcoming shinobi.

This is why the storyline was adjusted to show Naruto and Sasuke as seemingly weakened in the initial Boruto manga series, and eventually eliminated from the plot in the second series. The silver lining is that fans were made to believe that the two characters might meet their demise, but thankfully, they were merely "sealed" away.
Similar to the situation that occurred with Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, he was renowned as the most powerful sorcerer due to his possession of both the Six Eyes and the Limitless Technique. This posed a challenge for the storyline to progress, as any major threat could easily be taken care of by him. Therefore, his presence in the story would have rendered the other characters, including the protagonist Yuji Itadori, irrelevant.
In season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo is portrayed in the image via MAPPA.
To resolve this, Jujutsu Kaisen manga creator Gege Akutami introduced a narrative twist that resulted in Satoru Gojo being sealed inside the Prison Realm by Kenjaku. This effectively removed his presence without the need for him to be defeated by a strong opponent, ultimately saving the manga creator from having to devote time to justifying another character's strength in order to defeat Gojo.
Therefore, it is clear that Sasuke Uchiha is poised to become the next Satoru Gojo of the Boruto manga. Both characters serve as crucial mentors and sources of support for the protagonist. If they were to be removed from the story, the protagonist would be forced to develop and grow independently. This also suggests that Sasuke could potentially make a return in the future to confront a formidable adversary.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I have mixed feelings about Sasuke's transformation into the next Gojo. On one hand, I am excited to see how this new role will develop and how it will affect the story. On the other hand, I am disappointed that Sasuke will no longer be as active in the series. I have always been a fan of Sasuke and his character development, so it is sad to see him take a backseat.
Overall, I think this is a good move for the series. It will allow Boruto to step up and become the main character, and it will give Sasuke a chance to rest and recover from his injuries. I am excited to see what the future holds for Sasuke and the Boruto series.
