From the moment Naruto began his journey towards becoming the Hokage, Kurama played a vital role. Initially an antagonist, Kurama's intentions were to possess Naruto's body and eliminate him to gain freedom. However, Kurama eventually won over the hearts of fans and became a beloved character.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, a special bond formed between Kurama and Naruto Uzumaki, leading to Kurama becoming an integral part of the Konoha village. With Kurama by his side, Naruto became an unstoppable force, even against powerful foes like the Otsutsuki. Tragically, Kurama met his end in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, leaving a lasting impact on fans who continue to mourn his loss.
Kurama's Death
Kurama played a significant role in Boruto as he stood by Naruto's side throughout the entire journey. Being the 7th Hokage in the Boruto era, Naruto's responsibilities primarily kept him confined to the Hokage Office. However, everything changed when the Otsutsuki threat emerged. Following Momoshiki's invasion, both Naruto and Kurama had to rise up and resume fighting. They displayed exceptional skills in that battle, and later, an even more menacing threat arrived in the form of Isshiki.
In their initial encounter with Isshiki's vessel, Jigen, Naruto and Sasuke faced tremendous challenges. Naruto was eventually sealed and required rescue from his son and other members of Team 7. However, in the rematch against the much stronger Isshiki Otsutsuki, Naruto proved his worth as the village's Seventh Hokage and a formidable ninja.
Engaging in combat, Naruto tapped into the immense power of Baryon Mode, courtesy of Kurama. This elevated state allowed Naruto to not only match but completely overpower Isshiki. Even Isshiki's divine shinjutsu proved ineffective against Naruto. Despite the time limit, Naruto played a pivotal role in defeating Isshiki.
Baryon Mode offered Naruto exceptional power, but it exacted a heavy toll, claiming the life of the Tailed Beast. At first, Kurama warned Naruto of the potential for his demise if he continued to utilize this power. However, as events unfolded, it became apparent that this was merely a falsehood. Although Naruto's life would have been in jeopardy had he sustained the technique for longer, it was ultimately Kurama who succumbed, leaving Naruto bereft and alone for the first time in his entire existence.
Naruto's Fate
Following Kurama's demise, Naruto experienced a significant decline in strength, as anticipated. In fact, the vast majority of his powers vanished, including the Six Paths Powers, which many had hoped he would still possess. In combat, Naruto Uzumaki became a liability, facing considerable challenges even against adversaries of lesser prowess. Despite his status as Hokage, Naruto could no longer keep pace with stronger foes, necessitating the protection of another. This responsibility fell to none other than Kawaki, his foster son.
Kawaki was gifted a fresh start by Naruto, and in return, he vowed to protect him at any cost, even if it meant endangering Naruto's own son, Boruto Uzumaki. True to his word, Kawaki eliminated Boruto, and once he restored his Karma seal, he made the decision to eradicate every member of the Otsutsuki Clan. Anticipating Naruto's interference, Kawaki sealed him, along with his wife, away, resulting in Naruto's absence from the story ever since.
Presently, Boruto is undergoing a time skip and when the story resumes, it will have advanced four years into the future, with Naruto Uzumaki still sealed away. However, this will not remain the status quo indefinitely. Eventually, Naruto will make his return, and fans will expect him to possess the strength necessary to confront the major threats that plague Konoha and the Shinobi world once again.
Kurama's Return In Boruto
In order to confront the formidable Otsutsuki fighters, Naruto must acquire a significant power boost. While various theories circulate, suggesting alternative power-ups for Naruto, there is one power that aligns perfectly with him - the power of Kurama. The duo has been collaborating since Naruto's childhood, making it the most fitting choice. However, a hurdle remains: Kurama has perished and cannot be resurrected, even with Edo Tensei, as he was initially a cluster of chakra. Nevertheless, there exists a possibility to reintroduce him into the narrative.
Although it may seem unlikely, there is a potential avenue for Kurama's return in Boruto. The Naruto universe continues to expand, and as the story progresses, creator Kishimoto ensures the introduction of formidable adversaries. These powerful enemies bring with them extraordinary abilities, one of which recently captivated fans: Omnipotence. Put simply, Omnipotence grants its user the ability to do virtually anything. This technique was originally possessed by Shibai Otsutsuki, an esteemed and godlike figure in the Naruto world who surpasses all other known Otsutsuki clan members seen thus far.
In his lifetime, he consumed an abundance of chakra fruits which enabled him to continuously be reborn, eventually leading to his transcendence into godhood and abandoning his mortal form. Shibai possessed such immense power that his techniques surpassed the realm of ninjutsu, classifying them as shinjutsu due to their awe-inspiring capabilities. One notable ability, known as Omnipotence, granted him the ability to manifest whatever he desired into reality.
Following his godlike ascent, Amado came across Shibai's remains and bestowed the gift of Omnipotence upon Ada. Utilizing this newfound power, Ada has already wielded its might on two occasions, both yielding tremendous success. Recently, she utilized this power to interweave the destinies of Kawaki and Boruto, eternally exchanging their roles.
Witnessing this profound event, Momoshiki conveyed that the Otsutsuki gods have repeatedly manipulated and altered history for mortal humans. Through this extraordinary technique, there may be a possibility to revive Kurama. Omnipotence provides the ability to rewrite history, and by manipulating past events so that Kurama never died, it could potentially lead to his resurrection. However, Ada must first attain complete mastery over the powers of Omnipotence to achieve this outcome.
Currently, her mastery of this power is not yet complete. Even if she does achieve perfect command over it, it remains uncertain whether she would be inclined to employ it in support of Naruto. Nonetheless, there exists a potential avenue for Kurama's comeback, and it will be fascinating to observe if the creator of Boruto opts for this route and paves the way for the reappearance of such a greatly acclaimed character.
