Sarah Jessica Parker evoked a nostalgic fashion moment from Sex and the City by wearing mismatched shoes. The 58-year-old actress made a striking entrance at the New York City Ballet Gala on Thursday, October 5. She donned a black sandal heel on one foot and a pink shoe from her own label on the other, reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw's iconic style in season 3 of the popular series. Parker's elegant footwear showcased satin straps with a crystal buckle embellishment. (Having introduced her namesake line in February 2014, Parker offers a range of pumps that exude her timeless fashion sensibility.)
Parker paired the shoes with a black off-the-shoulder dress from Carolina Herrera, which had cutouts at the bodice and a billowing tulle skirt, perfectly capturing the ballet theme of the evening. To complete her outfit, she accessorized with a sparkly silver top handle bag, black bracelets, and diamond stud earrings. Additionally, she chose to add a dramatic black bow that gracefully cascaded down to her feet. This ribbon was elegantly tied to the ponytail of her chic half-up half-down hairstyle, giving Parker a delicate and graceful appearance.

Parker's statement about shoes caught our attention, reminding us of the time when Carrie, after ending her relationship with Aidan, wore mismatched Christian Louboutin sandals in Los Angeles. On a fun night out with her friends Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes, Carrie donned a charming ruffled floral dress and paired it with a pink sandal on one foot and a blue sandal on the other.
Sarah Jessica Parker, in an attempt to address the long-standing confusion among fans, finally revealed the truth behind her style choice in June 2019. She took to Instagram to clarify that she had two pairs of strappy sandals from LouboutinWorld, which were carefully selected in collaboration with the renowned Patricia Field. Parker and Field decided to showcase both sandals, as they found both options to be equally stunning in color and complementary to the dress.
Parker added, “But also because we simply loved doing 1 of each. Sending my best. And hope this is a satisfactory answer.”

Sex and the City, featuring Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. After the show concluded, the cast came together again for the films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010).
The series was once again brought back to life, but with a fresh perspective, through And Just Like That, which made its debut on Max in December 2021. While Cattrall, aged 67, did not reprise her role for the new series, fans eagerly anticipated her cameo appearance in the season 2 finale earlier this year. In August, Max revealed that the revival had been renewed for a third season.
