Sarah Jessica Parker's son, James Wilkie, has admitted that he hasn't made much progress in watching the Max dramedy, And Just Like That. Despite enjoying what he has seen so far, the 20-year-old feels a bit strange since he hasn't watched the original Sex and the City series. He expressed his uneasiness about watching the newer version without having seen the original, even though it is easily accessible.
Parker, 58, and husband Matthew Broderick welcomed James in 2002, four years after SATC premiered on HBO. James jokingly mentioned that it was quite obvious why he hadn't watched the original show as a kid. However, he now admits that he doesn't really have a valid reason to avoid it.
Contrary to what one might assume, James clarified that he hasn't avoided the series due to its sexual content. The Brown University student explained that people often ask if the explicit scenes are awkward for him, but he doesn't find it to be a big deal. He simply believes that he was too young to watch it before.

Parker's thoughts on her children watching SATC have not been shared, but her co-star Kristin Davis has expressed her intention to use the show as a resource for her own daughter once she reaches an appropriate age. Davis explained during a January 2022 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that as her daughter grows older and is exposed to various topics, she plans to use the show as a teaching tool. Davis wants her daughter to feel comfortable discussing these topics with her and sees Sex and the City as a potentially educational resource for the future.
The actress from "Holiday in the Wild" adopted her daughter Gemma, 11, and son Wilson, 5, in 2011 and 2018 respectively. Recently, Davis discussed the guilt she felt as a mother when she had to leave her children in California while she filmed AJLT in New York. Davis explained that she didn't want to disrupt her daughter's middle school experience by taking her out of school. Initially, she planned to bring her children to New York occasionally or skip weekends, but her 5-year-old son was not happy with this arrangement. Consequently, Davis felt the need to return home every weekend due to the overwhelming guilt she experienced. She acknowledges that finding a work-life balance can be challenging.
Season 2 of And Just Like That premieres on Max Thursday, June 22.
