Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has received a diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer, according to a spokesperson. The 63-year-old underwent a routine mammogram screening which led to the discovery.

According to a spokesperson, the Duchess was advised to undergo surgery, which has been successfully completed. She is currently receiving excellent medical care and her doctors have given her a positive prognosis. Now, she is recovering with her family and wants to express her immense gratitude to the medical staff who have been there for her. Similarly, Ferguson's representative mentioned that she is "hugely thankful" to the medical professionals who detected her condition and added that she does not have any other symptoms.

The author of A Most Intriguing Lady, as well as her family, have not disclosed any additional information about her illness.

Beginning their relationship in 1985, Ferguson and Prince Andrew dated for almost a year before getting engaged. They exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey in July 1986 and became parents to two daughters named Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. However, Ferguson and Andrew decided to separate in January 1992, and their divorce was officially finalized four years later.

Following their divorce, the former couple has managed to maintain a friendly and cooperative relationship as they continue to co-parent their children. Surprisingly, they even reside together at the prestigious Royal Lodge in Windsor.

In a recent interview on Good Morning Britain, Ferguson couldn't help but express her admiration for Andrew, referring to him as an exceptional man. She highlighted his kindness and goodness, emphasizing that he excels as a grandfather. It is worth noting that this statement was made just two months after Andrew reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of rape and sexual abuse when she was 17.

The Yorks are a proud family with four grandchildren. Beatrice, aged 34, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have a daughter named Sienna, who is 19 months old. Interestingly, Sienna is not their only child as Beatrice is also the stepmother to Mozzi's 7-year-old son, Wolfie, from a previous relationship. Eugenie, on the other hand, has two sons named August, aged 2, and Ernest, who is just 3 weeks old, with her husband Jack Brooksbank.

During an episode of her "Tea Talks" podcast earlier this month, Ferguson couldn't help but gush about her only granddaughter, Sienna. She revealed that while Beatrice was away in Jordan for the royal wedding, she had the privilege of spending time with Sienna and even letting her stay with her. Ferguson expressed her delight at having the opportunity to bond with her granddaughter, and she proudly shared that their bond included the adorable act of giving Sienna a little sip of tea from her own teacup.

The author of children's books, known as "GG" to her grandchildren, not only adores her daughters' little ones but also shares her life with a collection of four-legged friends, which includes Queen Elizabeth II's beloved corgis.

During a March appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan, Ferguson humorously referred to his two pups, Muick and Sandy, as national treasures. He joked that whenever they go on their squirrel-chasing adventures and encounter obstacles like trees, a visit to the vet is necessary. Interestingly, his furry companions do not have a security detail, but they are well cared for and protected by Ferguson's five Norfolk terriers. These cherished pets even have their own royal beds and retire to their individual bedrooms each night.
