Nicole Eggert recently opened up about her journey battling breast cancer as she documented the emotional moment of shaving off her hair.
In a touching Instagram video posted on Thursday, March 14, the 52-year-old actress shared a powerful quote by motivational speaker Madeleine Eames: “Maybe healing is more about accepting ourselves as we are, rather than trying to change who we are.”
Eggert was seen in a video cutting her hair to the tune of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right.” She trimmed her locks until they were very short. After she was done, she ran her hand over her head and smiled at her work.
Her famous friends left supportive comments on the post, showing their love for the new look.
Alyssa Milano praised Eggert for her grace, calling it inspiring and expressing her appreciation. Jennie Garth also sent Eggert a "big hug."
Eggert had shared a week earlier that her hair was starting to fall out as she continues to battle cancer.
It's a week before my next treatment and I wanted to share an update with you all. Despite everything, I'm feeling really good and strong. I feel pretty much like my normal self, except for one thing - my hair is starting to fall out now. Just like when you get your bangs cut dry and all those fine hairs keep falling in your eyes, that's how it feels for me.
Nicole Eggert shared a post on her social media account.
She mentioned, "It's a bit odd, but luckily it's not coming out in large amounts. I'm handling it fine. It's all part of the journey and I was prepared for it."
Eggert found out she had stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in January, after suffering from intense chest pain for three months.
She described the pain as throbbing and unbearable, prompting her to see her general practitioner right away. However, due to fully booked appointments, she had to wait until the end of November to get further tests done.
Eggert's diagnosis was uncovered through a discovery mammogram and multiple biopsies, shaking the world of her daughters Dilyn, 25, and Keegan, 12.
Upon learning about her diagnosis, Eggert shared, "It made me realize that I can't give in to this. I have to overcome it. My daughter needs me more than anyone else."
Eggert later shared that her doctors discovered additional cancer in her lymph nodes.
She admitted during an interview on Inside Edition in February that she regrets not doing self-exams regularly. "I should have been doing them," she said.
