Sara Bareilles is gearing up for the 76th annual Tony Awards and the movie premiere of her musical, Waitress. In a recent Instagram Story, the Love Song singer shared that she is actively working to ignore her past struggles with body image before hitting the red carpet. Traditionally, she would go on a body-shaming bender and try to lose weight, feeling the need to present a certain way to be allowed to participate in such events. However, she is now focusing on preparing for the events without putting herself through that negativity.

"I am making an effort to change my mindset," said Bareilles, who is a nominee for a Tony award in acting. She acknowledged that her previous way of thinking is outdated and no longer applicable to her life. Despite this, she admits that it takes a lot of effort to not revert back to those negative thoughts. However, she is determined to enjoy herself and embrace her body during the upcoming event.

Bareilles, who recently got engaged to Joe Tippett, her long-time partner, has been nominated for a Tony Award for her outstanding role as the Baker's Wife in the revival of Into the Woods. She is in competition with other notable actresses such as Annaleigh Ashford, Victoria Clark, Lorna Courtney, and Micaela Diamond. When asked about her nomination, Bareilles expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating that being recognized for her performance among her fellow honorees meant the world to her. She described the experience as "shocking and delightful," and expressed her gratitude to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bareilles made her debut on Broadway in 2015 as the composer and lyricist for Waitress, which earned her a Tony nomination for Best Original Score. Although she didn't win the award, she later co-hosted the 2018 broadcast with Josh Groban, who was also a Tony nominee for his role in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Groban, a singer known for his hit song "You Raise Me Up," is also up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his portrayal of the title character in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Sunday's ceremony. The 76th Tonys will air from New York's United Palace, with Ariana DeBose as the host. However, just hours before the show, Bareilles had not yet chosen her dress.

"I'm back from my fitting for the Tonys and the Waitress premiere, and I'm still deciding on what to wear for the next two days - two of the most important events in my life. Despite having fantastic options, I'm feeling the pressure as we approach the deadline. Nonetheless, I'm grateful and excited for the upcoming events. Let's see what happens - bring it on!"
